I would like you to give Euphoria a second read so much though, even if you censor the gore and scat (cus really, the only reason why you’d keep that up is either because it’s your thing or because you want to have the true experience), because the true end makes you look back at all of this like… Yeah, I fought really hard for that. And that’s exactly how the characters felt at the end of it too, and so I think that, eroge stuff aside, it’s also the reason why this game is so graphic. (Can you tell it really affected me? XD) PS: ever heard of Fraternite? Same artist, same studio, even more f*cked up storyline than Euphoria and Maggots Bait combined with absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel. I think it easily tops all of the eroges here in the sense that not only is it graphic, it’s also so, so immensely depressing and the feeling of helplessness is… off the charts.

It's just a very gloomy, depressing game. I still think it's interesting in terms of tone, aesthetic identity, and the "post WW2 nihilism" vibe is unmatched. But yeah, it's not a fun, heartwarming vibe 😅

I will never emotionally recover from NO THANK YOU!!!! Its BL but I would recommend it for the plot alone. Its a mystery surrounding a snuff ring with a crazy twist. There is a brain scene and that is all I will say there. Apparently the studios other game is more psychological horror. Room no 9 throws 2 bffs in a room and forces them to choose between physical or psychological damage for ten days to be freed.

kara no shoujo deffo one of the more tame things on this list, but it still lives rent free in my head ngl. Like its not eye bleach material, and you can mostly talk about it without being put on a watchlist... but the way they write the scenes kinda just feels you with an uncomfortable dread. Like each time you go to bed in game you are just sitting there praying they arent going to make you watch someone you care about get chopped to bits. Outside of the violence there isnt too much dodgy shit and if i remember correctly its mostly just implied or mentioned second hand.

That's the point. Clockup takes influence from a lot of grindhouse movies which were known for their shock value. Also you can throw them in the camp of movies like Salo (120 Days) and A Serbian Film. They're plotge however, so despite the dark stuff they definitely have stories which get resolved in one way or another.

Oooh yanderella, havent heard that one in a long while! Played it like almost a decade ago when I stumbled upon it on tumblr. Was relatively simple plot, short (you'll probably be done in like 3-5 hours for all endings) and enjoyable! When i played it back then with my boyfriend, I was like reading the lines for each girl in the most super sweet soft voices I could muster (think princess Peach), and he has since then associated me sounding like that with scary.

Dohna Dohna, it's just like Persona 5 but for degenerates. Outstanding art, phenomenal OST, funny characters, entertaining story, adictive gamplay, heavy management mechanics, and some disturbing things, of course, not at level of Euphoria at all but still hurt beacause you like the characters. PD: Porno is best waifu, she is too funny. PD: Forgive me Alice, I couldn't save you. ;-; I stopped of playing a week after that. PD3: I hope a Remaster some day, 1080p at least.

@@algarcia3729 I strongly doubt Alicesoft has any desire in remastering it this early on. Again, the game came out in 2020 and they're more worried about remastering games that came out a good twenty years ago, like with the current game remaster announcement. Those to me I think need more of a remaster than games than are still in HD to begin with. The game looks fine as far as I'm concerned, I think people get way too obsessed with this stuff. First it needs to be 1080, then 4k, then 8k in a few years - but games that are SD from many decades ago, those could use a real remaster. Besides, the writer for DD left Alicesoft and I guess they pretty much scrapped the sequel.

A sequel is impossible, a lot of important people left but the story ended so a sequel isn't really necessary. Man, Bible Black is just rapey. It is good with its futa, lesbian and revenge moments but other than those, it is just a babby entry point for weird fetish eroge/ero anime. I like Clock Up's thriller and psychopathic eroges more since they are plot centric (and graphically disturbing) and really just straight up novels lmao, there are no interaction or choices whatsoever. Also, Sugina Miki/Suzuka Miya's writing is just so good. Their Kara no Shoujo and Flowers series are probably the among best literature I've read in my life. A quick note, Kara no Shoujo, while having mutilated corpses as the subject matter does not categorize the series into gore or vore stuff. Kara no Shoujo first and foremost is a mystery/detective novel series and it really excels in that category.

I was surprised I had played before anything on this list. I played Dustmania Grotesque when i was on my edgy phase as a teenager, but i thought it was just so silly it put me off the genre for like a decade lmao

The ending of Closed Game (and I mean the True End) made me more mad than anything else in the eroge world. Starless's Black Tape Letter ending made me upset, but that final end, you have no idea how upset I was. They took my favorite character from the game and made me want to beat the crap out of her. "You don't realize how many hours I spent on this thing just for you to do this!" 😆
