Obviously they are a reputable business. I’m fully amazed at the ease of the tear down and build up. Yes their environment may not meet our own standards,, but the focus should only be on that they get the job done. Great video! I never knew a transmission could have that many parts, WOW!

I couldn't imagine undoing that many bolts with a hand wrench.. in almost all of these videos there is some safety sally or expert criticising their work practices but the truth is they get the job done...

I'm old school and was taught to repair heavy earthmoving plant exactly as these guys are doing....sadly these days all they would do is pull the transmission or engine ect and fit a new/ refurbished unit.....they don't have the luxury either with the funds or availability of replacement units to do that...but they have the skilled to diagnose the fault strip and repair the affected unit at a fraction of the cost of a new unit..you can't beat old school..sadly today's mechanics have a list of certificates but end up as swap jockeys and never fully understanding of how it precisely works...just my 2p worth..

I recon that in the time these guys took to identify, solve and fix the problem the guy in a western parts shop would still be wondering which part to order (and when it came it woukd probably be the wrong part). You guys have my greatest respect for what you do with limited facilities. I think all western apprentice engineers should spend 6 months with you to learn how the 'professionals' do it ! This is a video on how not to do it... The fact they compare bolts tell me they don't exactly know which goes where. Put the wrong bolt in the wrong place you will have problems. Don't even get me started on the torque specs that are not followed. Over torquing or under torquing will be problematic. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I wonder if anybody who's responsible for designing these things has ever thought to go to one of these shops and ask these hands-on mechanics if there was an easier way to service these monster transmissions? Talk about a unique perspective, I'll bet these guy's dealing with this day in and day out know a thing or two.

6They had to have taken hundreds of these apart to figure out how to reassemble. I didnt see any real organizing as to where different bolts went. They lumped parts together, but that's it. Amazing.

Muy eficaces y conocedores para realizar los trabajos, sólo que son muy sucios de su vestimenta que se aprecia la usan varios días y reflejan incluso que han de oler muy desagradable; quizás sea cultural la falta de aseo personal diario. Lo mismo el área de trabajo siempre es un tiradero de basura, lo que refleja no tienen cultura de orden y limpieza. Todo es cuestión de actitud , más que de ocupar insumos para mejorar el ambiente integral del lugar de trabajo en aspectos de seguridad e higiene industrial.

What is amazing is how they all work together. Never happen here. All hand tools. Imagine how much faster if the only had some air tools. They could teach many mechanics here a thing or too.

Don’t understand how these guys can do a quality job with working in the dirt. Especially engines and transmissions. Seems like they get so much trash and debris in the mechanical components that it would just grind itself into bits and pieces. Not to mention it takes them 10x’s longer to disassemble components without the use of air or power tools. I wouldn’t be comfortable with them repairing anything for me😬

Ни одной чистой ветоши, куча грязи и полная антисанитария. мне понравилось, как они эпатажно вскрывают новые коробки, расхлябанные движения напоминают шимпанзе, раскрывающего очередной банан. Все на коленке с песком пополам. И наверняка это авторитетная шарага с услугами вплоть до замены форсунок на ракетном двигателе - уже сегодня)))

They do love the L shaped wrench extensions. I should ship them some old speed wrench's I have. As a group they do work very hard and under terrible outdoor conditions. The cleaning solution is what exactly? Carbon Tet? Diesel? with no gloves or PPE? Hey though at least they used USA made parts.

That's not a big risk as they clean all the parts before they reassemble the thing. Sure, cleaning the casing first would make sense, but I guess it's easier done, when it's disassembled. They probably don't have any water hoses or compressed air

Эти контрацептивы , если и делают умный вид, то это не значит что они что то понимают. Этот агрегат они раз в месяц перебирают, пока совсем не убьют, он в перемешку с песком дольше не ходит, а им и не надо, чтоб без работы не сидеть.

I’d love to see these guys be able to work in a shop with tools and the correct equipment to do that job. They crudely get the job done using rocks and sticks and whatever else they can scrounge up. Gotta give them where credit is due. They’re the toughest people ever that’s for sure. I’m sure real caterpillar mechanics must cringe when they see the way they repair things lol just letting the parts drop on the ground in the dirt. Everything torqued to factory specifications too I see! 😉I was amazed to actually see one guy was wearing a pair of sneakers.

A number of fundamental errors made here which would lead to catastrophic failure..But you do the best with what knowledge expertise and Equipment you have so kudos to you all …But as a repair to a standard that would be acceptable…for any kind of longevity and not cause further problems…absolutely miles off

@@geddon436 stretch bolts were not replaced with new these are Single use and should never be re used..Not one bolt was torqued up correctly..all the spline and shaft bearings should have been replaced as a matter of course as they will be damaged..or excessively worn.. the hydraulic matrix kehler rings were not taking out and inspected never mind replaced the list goes on and on bearings were not pre load tested splines we’re not lead ball shim pack measured nothing was torque up or pre load checked…blah blah the list goes on

I remember when I was an apprentice(electrical) I had a 125cc 2 stroke Yamaha bike and the oil seal was leaking, it took me about 2 months(I think) to take it all apart and put it back to just replace the seal. Afterwards I found there were about 10 nuts and bolts which I had no idea where they went, but it worked.

In the transmission shops I've worked there was only one builder! If it didn't work he'd have to be the one to have to pull it out again! But I've never worked on a dirt floor. I had to fix it for real and not just put on a show. Sorry to hear your country is going bankrupt. Good luck!

Им для полного счастья песочка не хватает. Вывалять в грязном песке точный агрегат, потом помыть его огромного стаканом грязной жидкости, вот в чём счастье. Не уснут они не изуродовав технику.
