Hey Ronan, can you tell which freight brokers you had issues with.. that way we all carriers know about it and never work with them again. All carriers should be united and don’t let freight brokers manipulate us.

Someone owns that Freight. That’s why it’s personal property so I would totally contact the owner of the freight. In freight forwarding if a property owner knew that the forwarding company did that with their freight they’d simply drop them and use another forwarder. I would 100 percent let the property owner know about it.

Ronen thank you for the great video agin !!! You are 100% correct there are good 15%-20 % off all brokers that doing that . And I see more and more people start doing these insane fees . I been doing this for more than 15 years. And these fees and penalties are something that started 2 years ago. I believe because of the freight volume. They just don’t care who are they going screw. Because it’s so many trucks on the market…. We just need more people like you to spread the word.

Well, I hate to say it, but I have to agree with you R. It's a cut-throat business in the US. I normally review the brokers and I try to interview them also while acting like I'm going to book the loads, and I ask all the hard questions. Detention pay, late fees early fees convenience fees lumper fees and then I start to put my prices. And then you here click the hang-ups after a while it's funny.

CARRIERS can have the power. But we need to unite, form a Union, a Coalition, Government regs... or just all say, ""No." After Rate Agreement, then negotiate Detention, Layover and refuse FEES imposed by Brokers -- every load. Too many Carriers taking what they get. Be strong, learn to negotiate!!!! We're a business too!

lot of brokers have accessorial policy you need to get a hold carrier service they dont want you to know about it but you set ur price and when you book a load they have to ask u if you waive ur policy and follow there's you can say no if they don't ask ur policy is in play regardless what the broker has with customer. what we need to remember is that the broker will tell you let me see if I get it approved with the customer, but in reality, ur contract is between u and broker. u have no contract with their customer, so regardless, is customer pay detention or not ur contract is with the broker.

In the US, we have a law about lumpers, §14103. Loading and unloading motor vehicles (a) SHIPPER RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTING.- Whenever a shipper or receiver of property requires that any person who owns or operates a motor vehicle transporting property in interstate commerce (whether or not such transportation is subject to jurisdiction under subchapter I of chapter 135) be assisted in the loading or unloading of such vehicle, the shipper or receiver shall be responsible for providing such assistance or shall compensate the owner or operator for all costs associated with securing and compensating the person or persons providing such assistance. (b) COERCION PROHIBITED.-It shall be unlawful to coerce or attempt to coerce any person providing transportation of property by motor vehicle for compensation in interstate commerce (whether or not such transportation is subject to jurisdiction under subchapter I of chapter 135... Most food DCs take a longer time to receive their products. They also use capstone as a lumper company, which is the worst you can run into. Some of them are: Cisco foods, Shamrock Foods, US Foods, American Wholesale Groceries (AWG), some Mclanes (Republic MO), United Natural Foods (UNFI), Ralph, Stater Brothers, Martin, Lineage, Tyson Foods, Smiths Foods, Conagra Foods, etc. You need to agree to better detention pay. Whenever I notice the receiver is one of the above, I automatically request more money as a way to be compensated for my time.

I have learned over the years there are some real snakes out there. Unfortunately, I have learned which ones not to use from experience. I will only use brokers that have their own freight. There are many out there that just copy and paste loads from other load boards without even having a clue what the freight is or who is shipping it. Those are the guys that will burn you. I have a handful of guys that I will pull for and never even have to question them. I know they will take care of me when a problem arises.

This has been going on since I can remember- back to 1990. The only way is for you to set YOUR terms with the broker. Otherwise you need to get your own customers and do not use any brokers unless absolutely necessary. You can also run your own brokerage for your fleet. Then farm out the extra loads -if necessary to other carriers.

On your last scenario, I've told my carrier that I dont provide any form of tracking except thru my eld. If they call my carrier to track me, they can tell them where I am. My carrier is good with that. My phone belongs to me, not my carrier or customer. I've told my people if they give out my number with out my permission and I'm called by the customer, its an additional 300.00, with an email confirmation immediately or I will wait untill I receive confirmation. Im fortunate that I'm in a position to pick and choose what I do. If they don't like it, I dont do it. And I don't care where the money comes from, carrier or customer.

1. you should never care about bad reviews. if their bad reviews can harm you then this signifies they got economic leverage, where they dont really need you. 2. things like you thought you could charge 85 an hour, and they only want to pay 35 an hour. under fraud law and contract law, they have legal obligation to make these agreements clear. there should never be suprises and trickery involved in this. it may violate contract and fraud law. even oral contracts can be legally binding which is why u should record phone calls and tell them it's recorded. and similar thing applies to unexpected lumper fees. you should take them to court, to help end that dirty practices. if you don't sue them they will keep doing it to other carriers. 3. also it's important to know that contracts can be legally rescinded due to alot of factors. so just because you signed something doesn't mean it's over, you can have it rescinded if injustices on contract law and fraud law was involved. 4. my advise is establish a contract it can be oral or writing. clearly identify what was represented on the agreement. how things became confused. and document the evidence. 5. charging for driver no pick up the phone. that may also violate the law. places unusual burden on carriers to track something hard to track. may count as an unfair business practice under unfair business practices law. these unfair practices may contribute to having more economic leverage over carriers, so it's good to sue people to help end bad practices or to help behavior improve. drivers get tickets and what does it do? it helps drivers psychologically make better decisions on driving, so similar with carriers if you take them to court for stuff they become less risky on things, they may start make more effort on compliancy.

Let me just say this, “NO ONE WANTS TO WORK FOR FREE”! And we as a Carrier are paid pennies off of a dollar and most times NOTHING to layover, and nothing for detention. We have been a victim to everything mentioned in this video and more. I need to start making videos of all of our issues so that people really know the truth about the industry and that carriers do not make the money people think we make. And Layovers not a carrier fault only want to pay $150-250 for 24 hours. How do other Carriers businesses survive? Covering fuel, driver pay, and overtime when they only pay $150-$250. I understand why Carriers are going bankrupt. I also question not being paid detention. If a carrier isn’t getting it, who is? We give the shippers 3-4 hours to offload because that seems to be the standard in Z7. What’s the standard?

The $350 offload charge from the shipper has nothing to do with the broker. They are not compensate in any way. The shipper has decided that if you show up late they are willing to rework you into their schedule that day but there is a cost for that. Especially at high volume locations. Yes it seems punitive but shippers have the right to do it. This is rare for shipper in the US but it does happen. Again nothing to do with the broker at all.

Former broker here: Brokers are at the mercy of our companies too. When we book loads we get paid a commission based off the profit margins we make. The more we get from the shippers and the less we pay a carrier the more we make as an individual. However whenever we brokers have to pay additional charges that comes right out of our pockets and not the companies so brokers are incentivized to pay as little as possible

We often do, but as a fleet it can be inevitable that you have some trucks stranded every now and then and have to run a quick load to get them a return trip

No respect for the operators anymore, but at the same time these steering wheel holders are disrespectful and have zero professional courtesy either.

How US carriers are dealing with that? Very simple, they bend over and take it 😁 Almost all brokers do it. If you will try to avoid it you will be left without enough work to operate. ☹

This sounds bad for u?? There are brokers that manipulate load prices also. Lets say that market rate is 2000$ for some load and then ypur broker takes that page and photoshops price so it becomes 1500$ and he tells u that he only got this load right now. Thats how many of those so called lease purchase truckers work as OO and make same money as ompany drivers

Sir, you need to stay in canada. You are the reason brokers are a problem. You worry about ratings? Then dont get paid. Stupid. Youre somekind of joker on here. KZbin version. You should have held that load in storage until paid. Wtf are you doing?
