Oh no, why? I have a cat and it took her two years to finally warm up to me. I was falling in love with her more everyday, I knew I needed to just be patient and she finally loves me too so much that she lays with me constantly. I love her you must have patience and be ready to wait and love the animal unconditionally If your taking on an adopted animal. There was no way I was bringing her back to where she was hanging out of her little cage. She was to big for it. Someone brought her back ,My last words to them was you will never see her again. I’m so happy they he found his right family.

Thats great ! Benny finally made it, and those two friends found a home together, a nice place to spend their last years. It's so funny how the big one sleeps in the little bed and the little one in the big bed . = )

I currently have a foster with similar stranger fear to Benny. I know his background and he for sure wasn't abused. His owner is disabled and just wasn't able to socialize him well.

Some dogs just don't thrive in shelters, they need to be in a real home and Benny would quickly adapt. Benny may have apprehension with men but in time he'll realize everyone is loving.

Speaking of a hand up an animal's bum.... In 1972 I spend my high school graduation, in the beautiful graduation dress I saved for, for months, I might add, shoulder-deep in a cow pulling a distressed calf. I may have missed my graduation but I saved a wee steer that night. Never wore that dress again! Haha!

It annoys me when people say they will take a troubled dog on the TV to appear like Saints, then bring him back after claiming he was 'too big'. The dog was the same size when you first met him, as when you got him home.

My dog was the same way. I spent 3 months with her in the shelter and giving her my shirt to get her used to my scent and tossed her treats from afar until they felt it was good enough that she wouldn't run away if spooked etc. she can't get enough of me now. :)
