Should have taken elements from the current Mx-5 and the rx-9 concept from a couple of years ago to maintain familial design language. This is a nice looking car, but it doesn’t feel like what a redesigned RX would look like.

I had this car, the FD 1994 in red w/tan leather interior, 5 speed manual, twin rotor, twin turbo. Was quite pleased with it except for the lack of low end torque and the lack of durability of the rotary engine. I agree w/ your RX-8 comments, no comparison to the RX-7 gen 3 design. Now I have a 2016 C-7 Corvette Stingray in Laguna Blue w/ light gray interior, 7-speed manual, 6.2L w/ plenty of low end torque. The "vette has all the sharp angles the RX-7 doesn’t with high performance car handling. You did a fine job w/ the RX-7 update except for the bolt-on spoiler. And glad to see you quickly removed the rear wiper, that was the one tacky design feature of the RX-7.

Everything you just did is already available for the 3rd gen. The FD RX7 has the most bodykits and appearance upgrades available for any single model probably in automotive history. I bring that up because you effectively put on a SCOOT Japan front end, paired with either CCE, Group A or EUROU Aero front fenders, side skirts patterned after RE-A RX8 D1 kit, stock 99 spec wing, Car Shop Glow Taillights and Twinzdesign rear diffuser. Love your work but you should have started with a clean sheet and used the RX Vision concept and Mazda's current design language as a starting point.

You made a Porsche front end with a r35 gtr rear......if they wanted to make an amazing rx7 relaunch, they keep it the exact same with new ground effects and a 3 rotor single turbo stock, and updated interior.

I had a modified FD for ten years (and two engine rebuilds - coolant seal failures). I loved that car…when it ran. Got a C5Z06 (not stock) that I still own along with a P100D. This redesign looks incredible.

The front grill doesn't match the current Mazda design ethos and you wouldn't know it was a Mazda at first sight. Plus the grill and lights combination makes it look a bit cartoony. I would love to see you do a redesign of the 1994 european/uk Ford Scorpio. The one with the frog eyes and see how big a challenge it would be to make that car attractive.

Just thought I'd leave this here. The first generation, dubbed SA22C or FB for north America went from 1979-1985. The FC was 1986-1991 and the FD was 1992-1995 (2002 in Japan)
