I just want to thank the folks at The Skin Deep for allowing Ajia and me to have this discussion. It was a great environment for us to dig even deeper into our relationship and we hope the video can help others in one way or another. We've been together 10 years (since we were 15) and married for 2.5 years, actively trying to conceive for the past 1.5 years. Sean Parker you guys were a great couple! My bf and i were recently on this show as well and one of the topics was having a baby as well (we have been together 8 years) But our struggles have been financial so no baby or marriage yet. Im so sorry you guys are going through fertility issues but please know you and your wife would make amazing parents when you guys do have a baby. UPDATE March 2022: Thank you to everyone who prayed for Ajia and me. As of a few weeks ago we are blessed to say we are now parents to an amazing little boy! It was a long journey to get to this point and we are so thankful to have had the support of friends, family and strangers like you all.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Rarely do we see or hear from black women who are struggling with infertility. Ajia, please know that you are not alone. I have been on the same journey for over 6 years, myself. I cannot offer you words to make everything better, because they would never allow you to feel as full as being a mother will be. People will tell you to "just adopt" and they won't understand the pain you feel every time you hear that someone got pregnant so easily or by accident. Women who have been fortunate enough to become mothers will dismiss your experience by offering platitudes that are actually meant to easy their discomfort and self-imposed feelings of guilt, rather than to help you. I only hope that an end to your suffering comes quickly and you are able to fulfill your dreams of being a mother to a child.

So moving, it made me want to comment. I have two babies. And my suggestion when you said we have been trying for so long, I said to you while watching. "Stop trying". Stop stressing yourself about having a baby and enjoy your life and your husband and I think as you do this, one day when you don't expect it you will become pregnant. Dear Aija & Sean, Just know god has plans for you & your future. My uncle and his wife were trying for a baby for 10 years !!! And it’s crazy they stopped trying and let god guide them in their own lives, together though . He became a pastor and they both were into living a healthy lifestyle. 2 years later.... without trying a baby was gifted to them . Don’t worry, let god have your life & marriage in his hands . Adoption is harder, more emotionally draining, expensive and heart breaking than you think. “Just adopt” is the last thing an infertile couple needs to hear. You don’t adopt a baby to fill your need to have a baby. They are not here to fulfill voids and dreams. You adopt because you are called and drawn to it. People who are made to adopt know it in their heart even if they have kids.
