Well, here we are again with another stealth camping video. A lot of new subscribers since the last video had asked for a bit more stealth camping. I got a $100 inflatable kayak from Walmart and put it to the test in the river. I found a good spot only accessible via the river! More to come in the future. I tried some freeze-dried meals... it did NOT go well. Hunkered down for the night, and woke up ready for more paddling.
For anyone interested in the main gear featured in this video I don't have any links as I got them a while ago, but I can give the product names and descriptions:
Hammock - Hennessy Asymmetrical Expedition Bottom Velcro entry hammock. I picked it up a few years ago at a camping store in Calgary.
Kayak - It's called a Z-Ray St. Crioux, I got it at Walmart for $137 Canadian.
Cook set - Cheap-o Walmart Coleman set. I don't recommend.
Power station - Jackery Explorer 500, available on amazon.

Something curiously addictive about these videos. I think the lack of drama, the unintentional humour, and just the innocence of the whole thing. While everyone else is striving to appear exciting and different, Steve is just a slightly quirky, nice guy. It's refreshing.

@@kentcyclist i get you. but at the same time personally we just need patience with those people. Why. Because they have been taught 'work, watch tv and only go abroad on holiday' and anything different is weird, bad, bum and all those insults. Or because it would take to much time and effort to explain different we can just ignore them and focus on those who do want to learn different.

Interesting video. Having been homeless a time or two, I have learned how to camp in urban areas. Little twig hobo stoves work great and using only twigs and small sticks (no larger than a pencil) I would cook the food and heat wild water to purify. Have done those freeze-dried eggs before and that is why it is always a great idea to carry a bottle of hot sauce. The hardest time in urban camping is that after the 89 quake, there were so many other folks who were made homeless and the SF bay area is pretty large and populated and doing stealth urban camping meant going the extra distance to isolate myself from the masses. Forget the police, it was the other desperate folks one needs to be concerned about. And I ate a lot of fish and did a lot of fishing. Foraging for wild edibles helped a lot too. And since I needed to earn money to get stable again, I found some cedar trees to camp under and stash my gear in the branches, out of sight, out of mind. 8 months before I had it together enough to be no longer homeless. And never once got my camps raided. HalleluYah!

Hahaha, exactly. Look at China for example. There's security cameras almost everywhere and tracking programmes are downloaded to everyone's mobile along with email and phone monitoring of anyone under suspicion. America WILL end up that way and those who don't believe it have no idea how unstable the ground has become that the constitution sits on. All it will take is a large enough disaster, such as a great depression style stock market crash or a power outage that disrupts civil order to a large enough degree and the constitution is hereby suspended until further notice with POTUS being given full exec powers. There's already a document drawn up and stashed away for that purpose. Then, up go the security cameras and the facial recognition programmes are put into effect with all the pictures people have voluntarily given through Facebook, Instagram and other social media websites; for "maintaining order and preserving national security" of course.

I second the lasagna, athough I 'cheated' and brought some parmesan and added italian spices. The beef stew is good - but needs more salt and pepper (which I always have camping). The beef stew is one of the few where you add *more* water than it says. For the breakfast stuff, I add less - or it turns to nasty slimy slop-eggs.

Only recently found Steves channel and have been watching his videos everyday to make me smile. I'm getting the urge to go camping but no one I know is interested, so watching Steve inspires me to do my own thing. I also love that he doesn't get mad if something goes sideways, he just rolls with it. (if he does get mad like every human would, he sure handles it really well on camera)

You don't need another place to sleep when INFLATABLE BOAT = INFLATABLE BED! And of course wet ground is irrelevant, even flooded ground. I've got a wider super tough inflatable row boat, small and light enough to easily carry. The large top surfaces can be used for luggage storage so the whole interior of the boat is available to live in. More drag slows it down but it's much more dry and stable and versatile than a thin kayak or canoe.

I ate a thousand of those Backpacker Pantry/dehydrated meal things when backpacking. Add more water than they suggest, let it steep longer than they suggest and after dumping in the water and stirring, seal it and give it a good shake to mix it all up. When it's all you got...it's pretty good

I love all your videos Steve! I typically watch one each night as I'm hunkering down for the day. I find they're the perfect way to wind down as they give me a feeling like I'm out camping too while I'm cozied up in bed. Don't get me wrong, they don't put me to sleep, but rather they give me a positive feeling to close my eyes, after the video, and drift off to la la land with.
