I swear Steve ….. when I was just a wee girl probably between 5 and 10 years old I loved to take off on my pony loaded with snacks, horse treats, whatever I needed for a day of adventuring and I would set up forts all through the forest to just disappear to. I only shared with best friends the locations but it was heaven. I still attribute that to my love of traveling, exploring to this day. I am 63 and now have a grandson that has such an adventurous spirit. We are exploring buds and have the very best times! I was fortunate to have built a successful construction company (from all those forts I built lol !). I look forward to seeing how my grandson implements his love of exploring:). I worked in a sports club on a seafront town in the south of the UK. When I first moved to the town I camped underneath an old tower for a few days (I kept revisiting that spot though), then moved into the local woods. My friend and I wove a "hut" from the trees in the surrounding area that was windproof, waterproof and most of all - invisible! I built a stone fireplace with a grill and a "hotplate" (some thick steel on top of the rocks), and had a full sized bed at the back of the hut. I kept clean at work, and was constantly asked by my mate why I didn't just rent a place - my answer was that I was saving nearly £1200 a month on rent and utilities. He joined me in the hut for a few weeks and decided to move into a smaller apartment afterwardss. I ended up leaving my job after 8 months in the hut, and moving up north. The hut's still there, or has been every time I visited the area - it doesn't seem to get much in the way of traffic, as it's getting harder and harder to get to... or maybe I'm just getting older lol

Here's what I love about this channel and Steve: This is a random normal guy who loves nature and loves to be out in it. He doesn't have a buttload of money and buys mediocre gear like the majority of us can afford and makes it work. In fact, even showing us how he makes it work, possibly giving us ideas on different ways to use it. He isn't out here trying to get rich on KZbin, he is out here making a few bucks and giving us content that is awesome. Everyday stuff. He isn't at Cabella's or Bass Pro getting everything, he is at Canadian Tire.....which from the sound of it kind of sounds like a bigger version of a Harbor Freight kind of place here in the states. Steve, keep up the work brother. So many of us love to see you do this every week, or as often as you can get time to Hunker Down. I, myself, no longer indulge in Step 2's, but I've always got a cup of coffee ready for when you crack your Step 2. Keep it up man, and everything is gonna be allllllll'right. Cheers my guy

Steve, thanks for all your videos. I used to hike, camp and enjoy outdoors, but that was some years ago. Before watching your channel I had given up on getting back out there. Now I have gotten a renewed determination to camp, even if that means car camping, but having health challenges I'll be thrilled with that. Your adventures are always a kick in the pants. Keep up the good work.

We use to all the time too, although we never called it stealth camping, just camping in random spots, usually down and off railroad tracks. Got busted by cops many times too, well, not busted, we'd run when we'd see them coming with flashlights.

Steve I'm a new subscriber from south Wales in great Britain. Your channel is absolutely fantastic, I can't stop watching. The "little sandwich" that you pulled out of your bag whilst doing a stealth camp in your car at an airport was hilarious. That think could have fed a family of five for a week 🙌

Hey Steve- Terrific video! For some time I have wanted to incorporate just this type of trip for my Boy Scout troop with my grandsons, but everything has to be on the up-and-up with Scouting. My fondest memories of my early teen years were sneaking around trying to remain undetected on my furtive overnight camping trips in Rhode Island, a fairly densely populated US state on the East coast. I think most every kid loves to sneak, and everyone would agree that it's best to perfect the skill when the consequences of being detected are not severe, in preparation for a time when detection may be catastrophic. You capture the fun perfectly with your camera shots towards the trail, your running commentary and your glances at the camera as you speak. Don't lose your adventurous spirit. Ted

Always enjoy your content brother. Try to hang a reflective emergency blanket on the inside of your tarp next time. It will block the light from passing through the tarp making you visible from the trail and also seriously intensify the heat you are getting from such a small hear source. They are small, cheap and pack well, but if you buy real cheap ones they can be loud so just be aware. Hunker down!
