The sentences for child abuse in general is way too low in the UK. It sends a terrible message. I've seen so many cases of judges claiming that the convicted who view CSAM are not a danger to children because they are not 'hands on' abusers. But specialist say that people who watch CSAM usually do have 'real life' victims- and that if they could get access to a child, they would abuse 'in real life' Also, the victims in the CSAM are being re-abused and re-victimised every time their abuse is viewed. So even watching it is abuse. The USA has the right idea with their harsh sentences for accessing CSAM.

Jail sentences are based on what the justice system thinks society cares about. People care about murder and financial crime, fraud, counterfeiting blah so they get long sentences. Society doesn’t really care about the SA of kids, neither does the church or authorities - many of those in authority indulge in it.

I packed up and my son and I moved back to the US. After a few months, the Met police contacted me about it. They caught my husband in an online chat room directed at child porn and incestuous conversation. He was arrested and they flew 2 officers to the US to interview us. I was always worried that my son was exposed to that disgusting shit by his own father. I divorced him immediately but the damage was already done. I'm grateful this brave lady is speaking on youtube, gave me courage, thank you! when i confronted tony (anthony), he was nervous ( hes a very bad liar) and defensively gaslit me and said " well if you're the one who discovered it maybe you're the one looking it up " , and i said, that doesn't make sense; if i were really a pedophile, why would I confront you? wouldn't i just keep that to myself? . Shortly after he claimed his brother had broken his laptop... I talked to some police officers including a friend who worked in the sexual exploitations unit, and they said they were behind on navigating cyber crime. so I've felt sick for years knowing there's nothing they can do so far, and that he and many others are out there perpetuating this deplorable crime. I know he was sexually abused as a child, but theres no excuse to continue the cycle. I also have trauma working as a child in the corrupt cult of hollywood but that makes me empathize and more protective of children like I was. It is beyond triggering to come to terms that I dated such a sicko. I havent been able to sleep properly for years resulting in chronic back pain from chronic tension and panic attacks, causing me to be unable to work full time. I would sleep better if there was a way for victims to report these ppl anonymously and with gov subsidized legal aid or some sort of support. it is a public safety/health and community concern.

I understand this all too well. My ex is currently is prison for child porn. I found stuff and kicked him out. I didn’t have enough evidence at the time of our divorce to keep him away from my daughter. It took about 8 or 9 years for the FBI to finally catch him and lock him up. I had to deal with my daughter going over to his house every other weekend all that time while he lied about me to everyone saying I was crazy and made it up. I told the police, the FBI, the judge, child protective services, and no one did anything for years until the FBI finally got him. Luckily, he never hurt my daughter, but I completely empathize with this woman. It is absolute hell to go through. To know and not be able to do shit about it.

@@rosienelson898 spread images of his face everywhere. {but check laws, we can't use the kind of information here to malign an offender in the community, it's illegal. We can only use it to protect ourselves. Can't engage in libel. I never told my neighboring landlord the kind of guy he'd rented to. Too risky. They have sex offender registries here. Some of them are old photos and don't get updated if the offenders go rogue, but you can still recognize faces. It is a good tool. I had to teach an admin of a school to use it who was running a collective of half-homeschooled kids and families, with credentialed teachers on site. I had to help several people who worked with kids understand that you *cannot* *EVER* allow random people access who purport they have something of value to share with or teach to the kids as visitors, and you have to screen parents too. [Public school do criminal record checks on *all* personnel. All people who run summer programs and nature excursions and alternative schools should too. I got so mad when I found out a half-brained "teacher" (I asked the admin if she ever saw his degree, because he never said in his bio which university he'd earned it from, so I couldn't check.) He'd wanted to bring some rando dude he met juggling on the beach to the private school site to "teach the kids juggling and other super cool stuff he does". We already had a mother in our community who was credentialed and trained and screened teaching circus arts for PE no less. I got that male teacher shitcanned. He did something else that crossed a serious line of another sort too. (not sexual but BAD) Back to sex offender registries, ikd if they have them in the UK but we have them in the USA, and they bear monitoring. I was horrified when I scanned it and saw the face of one of the people who moved into a house very near us at our former residence. He'd been convicted in another state of a lewd and lascivious act on a minor (that is the legal terminology used in that state). idc how long ago it was. I caught him on our property "walking his dog" after dark once and accosted him and told him I was calling the police if he didn't leave immediately, that I'd seen him on the registry and that he was to stay the fuck away. [I had an adolescent son at that time, which I did not bring up. He knew. He saw us take walks. Before I saw him online and we stopped ever walking near his place.] He told me that *my* landlord gave him permission and I said, "I just revoked it. Leave NOW and if I ever see you on this property, in our parking areas, or again anywhere near this property (multiple rentals on site in semi-rural zone), I'm calling the police immediately. You won't get another warning." He left. He walked his dog the opposite direction far away, I saw him, a lot. I was glad when they moved away. The landlord was pissed who rented to them, they left a disaster behind and he was a meticulous type, kept beautiful grounds. I was more glad when we moved to a better place. The landlord we'd had was *rotten*.

find the video of Soft white underbelly called "In memory of..." (30:38).Half of these people were abused in some way, they are all dead... I cried when I later found the story of Jake (10:30) who was SA by his father who sold him to neighbours and recorded it... Such a handsome and eloquent guy... Its just tragic... No wonder he got into drugs and finally died, because of aggregated trauma and all the damaging things he tried to use to heal it... I cant, really ;(

He could just as easily have been the biological father of the woman’s son/her first husband. Everyone is a “strange person” to begin with, and a huge proportion of these offenders are at home with their first wives and biological children.
@oyster34034 ай бұрын
The biggest risk factor for child mistreatment is the presence of a step-parent at home. See: the Cinderella effect. Not all step-parents, but the evidence is strongly suggestive of that link.
@kcv06054 ай бұрын
@@oyster3403Yes but this case was not about the physical sexual abuse of a non-biological child in the household, it was about downloading images from the internet of unknown children. My point was that this is not a crime predominantly being perpetrated by men who happen to live with children they aren’t related to. Separate issue. In a sense, the main risk factor for “child pornography being downloaded onto devices in your household” is just having an adult male in the house at all. The risk of that particular scenario is not meaningfully elevated if the male in question happens to be, for example, a new boyfriend or husband after a divorce (which does indeed elevate the risk of physical sexual abuse of your own children).

Well I’m in the US but I got justice. I was abused in every possible way by my mom’s bf throughout my entire childhood. I told and no one cared. Once social media was a thing he would message me and I would block him and he would make a new account and do it again. So I decided to use that and started talking back, I made him feel safe talking about what he did and of course the statute of limitations was up so what could I do… well there’s a loophole now and a big change to the law because of my case. I got enough information from him to turn it in as new evidence and after 30 years he was arrested and I looked him dead in the eyes as I testified in court as the jury cried! He got life! My goal is to get my story out there and help others do the same thing. So I hope that gives you some reassurance and encouragement.

My comment is in no way meant to target women. It just blows me away how often you will read in the news where a woman leaves her children/babies with a "new boyfriend" that she's barely known for 3 weeks. She has to go to the store or work because the boyfriend is a piece of trash. Well, you know the rest of the story. The mother comes home to find her children raped, beaten or dead. You're children ALWAYS come before your own needs. Your needs will just have to wait until your children are grown up.
