Hutt space was always interesting to me. A huge place of many systems and planets not under the rule of the republic, cis, empire or New republic. But it is never explored much in the movies and only became a thing due to the expanded universe
@andrewk92673 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's really the only significant star polity that has been around as long as the various predecessors/iterations/successors of the Republic, that is itself not a part of the Republic entity in some way. Really interesting idea

You spend some time on Nar Shadaa in “Jedi Outcast”; it’s an ecumenopolis moon of Nal Hutta
@DIEGhostfish2 жыл бұрын
In Legends The Empire nominally ruled Hutt space unlike the other powers. But their De Jure power was purely theoretical they never really pushed the issue to obtain real control. The battle of Nar Shada was one "Attempt" to enforce control, but Palpatine never intended to actuallt WIN that fight. The threat of sending an actual serious invasion was enough to extract expanded protection payments and the TIE factory from Force Unleashed.

The criminal faction is everything that makes Star Wars interesting. By keeping the Galaxy in strife they make the most profit. A strict dictatorship would find them all out of power. A free society means they can't profit off of smuggling and crime. It's always in the criminals interest to keep the good guys and the bad guys at each other's throats.

The gact that people constantly underestimate the Hutts counts towards their acumen as Crime Lords. "Slugs that can't even stand up" but which are actually three to five tons of pure muscle on top of a brain that worked out hyperspace mechanics while the rest of the galaxy was banging the rocks together to make fire. Hutts don't move fast because they don't have to move fast. When you see one moving fast, it's usually the last thing you'll ever see.
@Rodrigo_Vega3 жыл бұрын
I still would like to see that in some form of canon media. Leia's murder of Jabba wasn't quite a masterful assassination. She just wrapped a chain around his neck and chocked to death like a b**** in a couple of seconds. He could have used his mightly tail to spring up and crush her against the ceiling, or spin like a log and crush her under his own weight. Anything would do. Show me how scary they can be, what do they do to intimidate another races when they have no pre-existing power. Anyone can gather they are intelligent, but from what we've seen, they aren't that imposing.

Depending on how hutt aging in Canon compares to that in Legends, Rotta could still be a baby at the end of the Original Trilogy. That's not to say he couldn't appear and be important to the plot, but he may not be old enough to have much initiative of his own. It would still be interesting to see what became of him after his father died.
