I don't usually comment in videos, but I gotta say that this recipe really worked! I am the worst at baking, nothing I make tastes as good as it seems to do in the videos or even good at all, nevertheless I never stop trying lol. I made vegan brownies before and I hated :) so I am really happy and thankful this recipe not only worked, but it's also very delicious. Thank you for sharing! (Ps: I used 3/4 cup of sugar + 1/2 cup of water because I didn't have the dates syrup)

I used to make black bean brownies all the time. Once I accidentally used seasoned black beans, and they sort of tasted like “Mexican hot chocolate”. The only thing was they had onion and garlic powder, but the intensity of the chocolate made them quite edible.

😂Wow. I'm glad it still turned out decent! You may have just invented a new brownie.

I just subscribed after seeing your review of the Ninja sp100 (which I outta receive tomorrow). Have you tried the recipe in the Ninja? Somewhat unrelated. How’s the Ninja in general for baking?
@TheVeganTestKitchen2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Robert! I have not tried traditional baking in the Ninja yet. I'm inclined to say baking should work well, but with the heating elements as close as they are to the rack, I could be wrong! I know that baking a pizza in the traditional oven vs. the Ninja isn't really much of a difference, other than maybe cooking a bit faster. Might just want to keep an eye on it a bit more. Let me know if you try it!

It is with some trepidation, but I'll give this recipe a go. You talked me into it. Question though, do you think the date syrup is critical, or could one use rice syrup or agave? The caramel flavor sounds important.
@TheVeganTestKitchen3 жыл бұрын
Definitely try it! I feel like agave syrup would probably work fine--though I think agave might be a bit sweeter. You can also make your own date syrup if it's hard to find. I've not tried, but it's supposed to be fairly easy (essentially just cooking down dates).

Do you know if you can just use dates or make the date syrup yourself? Thanks!!
@TheVeganTestKitchen3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely make the date syrup yourself--you'll just need a little bit of time--there are plenty of recipes online, but essentially you just boil the dates down, mash, and strain!

Hi. Just tried these today. Am I the only one who does not like oatmeal brownies? I used maple syrup + a little coconut sugar and they were still not overly sweet. Added a pinch of salt & 1/4 cup plant milk. Next time I will use unbleached white flour (I don't have celiac disease) & see if I like them better. I don't know what everyone is raving about. I have other much better vegan brownie recipes and, like I said, I didn't like the oatmeal taste.
@splendidninja9525Ай бұрын
Same here, I dislike the texture of oatmeal too. I found a recipe without any oatmeal or flour, but it's sadly not vegan. It turned out amazing. I used: 3 eggs 225 grams medjoul dates 50 grams coconut oil 400 grams black beans 1/2 ts baking powder 75 grams of cocao powder 2 ts vanilla extract Optional/recommended!: nuts & dark chocolate chunks. I just used a stick blender to blend all ingredients and folded the nuts and chocolate chuncks in there at the end. I didnt leave it for too long in the oven so it was very fudgy inside and the best brownies I've ever made! Maybe the eggs can be replaced with a vegan substitute (idk flax seed?). I haven't tried that yet.

Can I use black bean flour instead of a can of black beans?
@TheVeganTestKitchen2 жыл бұрын
I didn't know black bean flour existed! I would imagine a can of black beans would work much better, plus you get all the nutrients/benefits from it.
