It's about meritorical values (substantive arguments focused on content and factual information). What Trump does is the exact opposite - ad hominem remarks, lack of factual information and deflection from the issues at hand. This makes him seem like a winner, because, sadly, that's what political debates are often about. I believe Kamala Harris needs to stray (a little) from the classic debate rules too in order to win. Sad, but true. That's what political debates are about often times, especially with somebody like Donald Trump.
