I really like how you outlined your shadows before hatching. As a beginner, it is really easy to fall into automatic traps. Drawing is a practice that you really do have to use your brain for, and figuring out where you want to place your shadows before actually placing them is one of obvious things which only seem so in hindsight.

Always have liked subtleties like the light reflection onto the bottom of the ball. It's things like that that we miss, which make art look more realistic, but intimidating to try ourselves. It's all practice and learning and almost anyone can do it if they want to.

Great video. First to need to scetch the correct forms, gestures, proportions. Without these, our work will go to bad. Only the next step is the shadowing. Generally I use the blending method, because it's will give a very smooth transitions. Need to repeat a few times till I gain right values. In the next step, I start to work on texture of the surface. Finally I need to correct some values: Darkening in the deep shadows or add some higlights etc

I've been told all my life not to use the eraser and don't blend etc. I've always felt like i couldn't really draw, but somehow pretended or something. Now i'm at a point where my drawings are reaching photo realism and i'm very glad i stuck to my bad drawing manners. Never let anyone tell you what is the right way and use what ever you want. I blend with qtips and toiletpaper. The eraser is my best friend lol

Thank you for the explanation, I recently started drawing and I’m in love with pencil art, I have a question how can I seal the art so doesn’t smear?
@soup56154 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about whilst you're doing the drawing (and accidentally smearing with your hand) just put a bit of tissue under your hand. If you're talking about after you're done with the drawing, you could use fixative but I recommend hair spray as a sealant instead, as it's a lot cheaper and a lot of people have it already.
