I think what I've come most to love about this work is that no one, absolutely NO ONE, has ever even thought of doing this orchestrally, let alone that this is a capella. So many little favorite bits! I especially love the way 2001 blends into the Can Can. I doubt I would ever have noticed the similarity between the songs on my own! I also get a kick out of Cesar making ‘motorboat’ sounds during Blue Danube. How appropriate! And I find Layne’s trilling giggle purr during that song to be so CUTE! I also love the growling start by Eli - so right for a Grundel and completely unexpected for a classical song - especially one that begins with the conductor’s baton tap.
@barbarabishop93624 ай бұрын
VoicePlay nails it once again! I loaded up “Hall of the Mountain King” on a second device so I could check out the makeup and costume comparisons and, aside from the horn color change to Layne to turn him into a giant carrot, the vast majority of the work is identical to the older video. Cesar’s ear whorls are slightly different, and his forehead horns have a visible spiral that was only hinted at before. I think Eli’s tunic is not the same. Other than that, the makeup team did a spectacular job of duplicating the Grundels in toto. I love every one of these people when they are front and center, but I’m developing a special fondness for Cesar’s habit of totally immersing himself into the character he’s performing. He’s just a blast to watch. It took me a few views to fully begin to understand the actual storyline of the video. You get so caught up in the music that it takes a while to see some of the interplay between the players. I couldn’t understand at first why Rachel looked so annoyed, but then the way the book became part of a game of “keep away,” plus some of the more mischievous expressions, and Cesar “borrowing” Geoph’s and then Rachel’s voice… and the adorable romantic attempt from Layne… 😍 So good!
