Australia in the 70's was just a beautiful carefree place and the music was hitting every where!

Fell in love with Johnny Farnham at 13 . I'm now 66 years old and still think he is amazing.

Anybody that says he found his voice in the 80's... needs to look at this. 😂🥰🥰

Fantastic choice - 60 years of WOW music. Old classic rock and roll. He changed to John in 1980. He's only 24 here and his 5th year of being King of Pop. Our wonderful John ❤❤ Thanks Travis & Suzy 😊❤

Thanks for this one. Wonderful news today that John is gonna be a Grandfather later this year. His son James & partner Tessa announced they are having a baby boy later in 2025. 😊

Some more old stuff you could check out would be John Farnham festival hall Melbourne 1972. This is where he went with his grandmother to see the beatles in 1964 as a 15 year old. One of the covers is "Yesterday" as well as a couple of his own hits

And I thought the band was both dirty and tight... Fun counterpoint to clean cut Johnny

A lot of those musos wouldn't have been taking "Johnny Farnham" that serious at the time. From about 1974 on my older brother was playing all the traps in Melbourne and said that John was at some levels considered too clean cut and a product of the establishment. Tall poppy syndrome was strong in Australia back then and being named TV Week "King of Pop" may not have done him a lot of favours on the music scene outside the mainstream. For about the next 6 or so years after this he was in the wilderness a bit, only after replacing Shorrock in Little River Band did his career really take off again. His 1980 Uncovered album is a really good album but didn't sell as well as it should have. My Nan wouldn't hear a bad word said about him in the 70's as he performed at all the 60 and over clubs and on the Mike Walsh show etc. Which also didn't make him that cool in my eyes as a teenager with my Nanna being a fan of him. So happy that he turned it all around from the mid 1980's on because the bloke can really sing.
