This is probably my favorite Nightwish song. The combination of Floor and Marco's voices. The combination of double kick and the choir. The breakdown. And not weird you hear Metallica in the second half. Tuomas has always been a huge fan of them.

This song is based on "Song of Myself" from "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman. The original was on the Imaginarium album and was the 2nd album released while Anette Olzon was with the band. The original was probably 14 minutes long, as after the singing was all done, there were symphonic metal orchestrations and "narrations".

Floor has many fans including a large Floor fan. :) They almost got you there at the end, hehe. This is definitely in the top 3 favorite NW songs of mine. BTW this is inspired by Walt Whitman's poem. @ the wolf hunters , tuomas wrote Song of my self while recovering from his depressive phase over the dark passion play era. The song ist heavily inspired by Walt Whitman’s poem with the same title, Tuomas often often calls Whitman “my hero uncle Walt” like robin Williams in the “dead poets society “. I posted an alternate video to song of my self under the poet and the pendulum reaction, it is the album version wich contains letters and diarys entry from tuomas and his friends while he recovered and read by some of his friends including a then session musician for Nightwish called troy donockly

You'll find the other half of this song on the album. They can't do it live as the vocals are recorded by family and friends of the band and crew (and Troy before he joined as a full member) It's a beautiful, thought provoking poem over some of the most beautiful music Tuomas has written, and well worth a listen.

I have a feeling you guys would enjoy Nightwish’s movie “imaginaerum” (after their album of the same name). The band produces it and plays in it as well, and you’ll get to see the intermediate signer between Tarja and Floor (Anette was pretty good on record, but live shows were NOT her forte; however, her voice shines through in that recorded album and in the movie).

Hey, if you are interested, you should check out Floor Jansen on a Dutch reality show beste zangers 2019, she was on the show for a couple of months, and they take turns singing each other songs different styles. It also shows all the different styles and languages she can do. At least 5 or 6 different languages. German, Dutch, English, and she does a Spanish song perfectly, awesome awesome thanks 😊

What about a band and genre you probably haven’t listened to? I am talking about „Lord of the Lost“ from Hamburg / Germany. Their singer Chris Harms is changing between beautiful clear, dark singing and grunts&growls. They are great musicians and released beside their regular albums three acoustic „Swan Songs“ longplayer with a classic ensemble. My suggestion to get into their music is, apart from „Loreley“ their most popular video, „Under the sun“: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWrXaYmfiKalbZI Dark rock meets glam metal meets gothic meets synths meets clear vocals meets growls and screams. I just love this band and the boys themselves. They are so cool, crazy, kind and friendly. I did shoot them several times as concert photographer including backstage documentaries. No other band I shot got so many photos awarded. They are an incredible live band as well.

If you want to here Floor sing differently/ better, you should look at the dutch program, Beste zangers 2019. Look for Phantom of the opera, with Henk Poort, Shallow by Floor(solo) and Que se siente!! These are great songs and even better after interpretation by Floor..!!!😉

So now i cant make Suzy Q believe that Floor has magical hair anymore? She spotted the massive fan? Dangit..... Oh well,now Suzy can learn me how to body surf,because i havent even heard of that before🤣🤣This is why i suggested Song Of Myself after the Romanticide reaction. The heavy drop in this goes heavier then Romanticide. Travis might be right there,regarding Metallica. Nightwish has had Metallica references in a few of theyr songs,wich tells you they are inspired. Wont say wich songs though,as it might come off as spoilers. But if Travis spots Metallica riffs,he is in for a future treat! 4:54 Best moment in the entire reaction,just sayin. Think its the first time i have seen Suzy completely lose it like that. Love it!🤣
