When you finally see Les Miserables on stage (and you will when it comes to your town) you will not leave with dry eyes. Lea Salonga is Eponine. The beauty and passion in her voice is matchless. The waterworks flow every time I listen to her sing this. There are other great performances (you have to be extremely talented to portray this character) but this one shines like no other. I love her, but only in my dreams…

I really enjoyed watching you enjoy Lea's performance! You'll see from this comment that I'm a super fan of Lea's! I really hope you check out more! Lea was born Feb 22, 1971 (she is 52 now) and has been performing professionally since age 7 in her home of the Philippines. Lea did theater, albums, concerts, film and TV as a kid and teen. Lea became first known internationally when she starred in the original London production of MISS SAIGON at age 18, opened the Broadway production at age 20, and won every major theater award in both countries for her portrayal. (There is a documentary about the making of the original MISS SAIGON and you can find shorter videos that show just Lea's audition process.) This performance is from the 10th anniversary "Dream Cast" concert of LES MISERABLES in 1995. Lea went into the Broadway production of LES MIZ in 1993 as Eponine - she was the first Asian/non-Caucasian to play the part on Broadway. (It was a big thing. Having people of color play roles that were traditionally white didn't happen often.) Lea was asked to be part of the 10th anniversary concert and many consider her performance of "On My Own" to be the gold standard. (I'd also highly recommend you watch Lea and Michael Ball sing "A Little Fall of Rain" from this concert. Michael Ball played Marius - the man Eponine loves.) There is A LOT more I could write, but let's just say she has been working continuously since age 7! She sent about 8 years being a coach on different versions of The Voice in the Philippines (adult, kid and teen versions). And she's best known as the singing voices of 2 Disney princesses: Jasmine and Mulan. (I think someone did a compilation video comparing Lea to original Disney voices singing the same songs. It's terrific!) Eponine is pronounced EP-po-neen. (Rhymes with seventeen.)

So happy to see you guys react to this particular version of Les Miserables, it was my introduction to the world of Les Mis and it left me speechless and stunned ofc. Now, if you want to see the end of this particular love triangle, you need to watch "A Little Fall of Rain" (not gonna spoil who lives or dies, you need to watch that for yourselves!) You could also watch "A Heart Full of Love" from earlier in the show where all three involved in this love triangle are singing together. It truly is an amazing piece of musical theater, and as a fun bonus, Cossette (who is the love interest of Marius, and also the childhood friend of Eponine...er, it's a long story, anyway) is played by Judy Kuhn, another Disney Princess alumni. And so, "A Heart Full of Love" is basically "The Battle of the Disney Princesses" (with poor Marius caught in the middle)!

Lea Salonga is PERFECTION. I have to say, saying she should have been in Pitch Perfect, nearly made me throw my laptop against the wall lol. It was insulting tbh. There is NO comparison. She played as Eponine in New York Production of Les Miserable, she is the original singing voices of two famous animated movies, Aladdin and Mulan. She played Pantine in the New York Production of Les Miserables and the list goes on. You need a year to read her achievements and awards internationally.
