Had this my whole life and didn't know it. I wondered why life seemed harder for me than others. My personal appearance opened doors for me, but they were doors I could not function in. This is all a shock realy. My roomate I found out had autism, we are both christians and it seems God has used this to teach me even about myself. Also, a girl who has been my best friend these years is also, I guess my own kept me from really noticing it or understanding it but God has finaly revealed it.

I´m also a christian (woman) and have a father who is self diagnosed with aspergers, there´s a chance I have it too, but it´s not visible or very little to others. But I have always struggled in life in various things. Especially with too much things going on it stresses me. I would like to talk to you and hear your story as you are a christian if you would see this.

That's a misconception; rates appear higher in some communities due to better access to psychiatric health care. Many autistics and Aspies who are from marginalized communities go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed because of substandard mental health care access. Here in MN, Somali immigrants, who benefit from mental health services provided by refugee aid associations, are diagnosed with a high rate of ASD. Every continent, ethnicity, and class has autistic people.

@herpderpmonkey my first impression is at least others might quit bugging you about not being like everybody else. I am 34, so my parents don't realy care, I haven't told them because it doesn't make a difference I feel in my case. One day I might bring it up to help them understand me for their own sakes. I feel like it is a courtesy to others to inform them. It is not an excuse.

Honestly, I think the ability to stay cool in a crisis comes from having to deal with a lack of an sensory shell during childhood. When you have to deal with overstimulation on a daily basis, and not just tune it out, crisis is not as unfamiliar a sensation.

2:26 That's my problem. I honestly can't tell if someone is joking or if they're serious when they tell me things. It's like my brain simply cannot register they're telling me a joke. Other people obviously understand it's a joke, but I take it at face value. And then they tell me, "Relax. I was just kidding." I feel like 2 inches tall afterwards. I also talk about thing that extremely interest me. And I can't tell if the person I'm talking to is no longer interested. I wish I was normal.
@GuacamoleKun10 жыл бұрын
Damn, how do I reply?? Meade Skelton: They seem normal because they've probably worked hard to seem normal, like a lot of us. Autism doesn't mean retarded or anything, not always. But it means being different, and in the beginning (when we're kids) that difference can be big, and in adulthood it can mean still thinking differently. But yes, we're all alike in more ways than we're different. :) Even low-functioning autistics.. we're all very similar. And they understand more than you think.

I bearly had a chance to come to that or make an administration. Were can i get more detailed information, or can you recommend me any meetings or sites here in Europe?! Well i still would go to the states, but thats really far from me ;-) Thanks a lot..

it's saturday noon now, i should be (even beginning) working on a presentation due tomorrow morning to determine whether i am entitled to continue pursuing my PhD in Biology, and instead i'm watching youtubes and falling in love with Kirsten Lindsmith. Kirsten, you are stunningly beautiful, attractive and bright. You are a role model for aspies around the globe to look up to, you and your boyfriend and the people who surround you are amazingly lucky, i would watch you say "appropriately" all day long if i only could afford to, and i wish you the nothing but the best.

@LordNifty I don't think I can stay cool in a crisis, but some things just don't register to me as a crisis. The deepfry is on fire -> hmm... well, we have about 2 minutes before the entire kitchen is burning. I'll better go get a bucket of sand. *2 minutes later* problem solved. But then: Giving college goodbye present -> Okay, I just stand over here, she'll have a break about now. Let's not make it look weird... *suddenly* Oh no, she's taking the other door. My plan is foiled!

The existance of a God is statistically unlikely. The concept of God is completely contradictory. How can you believe in something that's not only very unlike but also contradicts itself? I guess that's what you guys call faith, I call it stupidity. If there is a God why would he have our most reliable and historically significant trait (Logic) disregard his existance? Do you really want to be special so badly that you are willing to believe in fairy tales? It's ridiculous and I laugh at you
