To explain why Hoppip knows Splash. The Japanese name of the move is literally just means Hop. However since only Magikarp knew it during Generation I they named it Splash because Magikarp is a fish insure if the franchise would even take off. This is also why female Mr. Mimes still have Mr. in the name since genders weren’t introduced at the time except for the two varieties of Nidoran.

Quick explanation 13:00 Metronome when used will fire off a move from a big list at random. This can range from Supersonic to Splash, to Self Destruct, to Flamethrower and many many more. Also yes, you can just release Pokémon any time you want from your PC or if they’re in your party. This tosses them into the wild where you will never see them again, ever. Some Pokémon will refuse to leave your side, like if it’s your one and only Pokémon so you don’t get softlocked, or if it has an HM required to go forwards or backwards in an area to also prevent you from softlocking yourself. Fortunately there’s a random NPC in game who will take a Spearow off your hands so Release menu isn’t required here

If you like stuff like this, you might enjoy saltydkdan's friendlocke series. He's done 2 so far. Long story short: it's a series where he does a nuzlocke but all his pokemon are named after and controlled by his friends. Example: catching a pokemon and naming it "Joe", his friend named Joe controls that pokemon (speaking as it, and choosing the moves) but if " Joe" dies, Joe (the person) gets kicked from the party and the pokemon "dies" (as per nuzlocke rules)

For that one question about why hoppit knows splash: in japanese, "Splash" is "Hop/Jump". In gen 1, the move was translated as splash because only magikarp knew the move and thus splash would have been an applicable translation. As a result, pokemon like hoppit knowing splash make sense in japanese but not english.

So, some info on gen 2: -some trainers can give you their number, if you accept then once an hour you will get a call from one of the numbers you have and they will either say something about their pokemon or offer to battle you again. Their pokemon will get stronger over time so it can be a good source of xp. There's also some that will trigger events which make rare pokemon appear more often and some that will give you a rare item, like the evolution stones. You can only hold so many numbers so they can be deleted and restored -the three legendary dogs (Entai, Raikou, and Suicune) get released into the wild and you can stumble on the randomly when you trigger a battle with a wild pokemon. Unfortunately they just run away as soon as possible so catching them is a nightmare. -

The first shiny I ever caught was a corphish in sapphire, which was really nice because it's one of my favorites. I even still have it I think, probably on USUM or ORAS. Gonna have to find mah boi now that I think of it. However, that wasn't the first I encountered. Not counting the shiny gyarados, it was actually some random-ass hoothoot. Of course, I didn't know shinies were a thing yet (GS were still new) so I killed it and didn't think twice about it until a friend at school mentioned that they were super rare. Still kick myself about that.

If AlphaRad wanted his Hoppip to know more moves he could just leave the Hoppip in the front of the line then immediately switch out and still get the experience. Though I doubt chat would allow that.

Metronome is a very good or very bad move to use. The Pokémon uses one random attack, which could be any move in the entire game, including moves that are specific to certain Pokémon. 18:22 😏 23:28 CAT 25:50 What's Muk spelled backwards? 28:55 Oh poor, sweet, young, innocent Duck.
