My favourite thing about him is that he *never* gives up on a play. If he sees a puck, he will try to get it no matter how unlikely it is for him to succeed. And the thing is, with enough tries, you will get the puck sometimes. That sets the Oilers up for some great plays, or leading him to kill 30s of penalty all by himself
@datriaxsondor5909 ай бұрын
Think you nailed it, really. Even if he tails off some, he's already worth the contract. They needed immediate help, which is why they offered that contract, and he has delivered to the fullest. There's practically no chance this guy falls off a cliff, but he's got maybe 1 more season of top production, before signs start showing. Aside from that, he's a heart player, who plays to his fullest nearly every single shift. Fans in Edmonton, and fans of the team in general, really connect with that. He's going to go down as a fan favourite by the time this contract is up. Even if he doesn't put up beast points in 3 seasons from now, he's gonna play with heart, because that's who he is, and that's why fans of the team, will always love the guy.

I'm not at all surprised by Zach Hyman's amazing run this year. In Toronto he had already shown the potential of becoming one of the best complimentary players in NHL history. Contrary to popular belief, you do need to have above average Hockey talent in order to mesh well with a Franchise player like Leon Draisaitl. And your need even more Hockey talent in order to effectively thrive with a Generational player like Connor McDavid who always plays in afterburner speed mode. There are not that many NHL players who can "keep up" with arguably the fastest skater in today's NHL, making awesome plays at high speed. Remember, Milan Lucic had been signed to an extremely lucrative contract and was the highest paid Oiler in the 2016 - 2017 Season at 8 million US $ in order to ride shotgun with McJesus. And yet he only had 23 goals and 50 points to show for simply because he lacked that extra gear.
