Yup. I ran into the first car I ever bought with my own money, when I was 27-28 or so. A 65 Bel Air 4 door I got for 6500 in 2005 that I bought when I was 19. It had 56k og miles and in immaculate condition when I had it. I had just got it when I had my son, and had to install a seatbelt (had no seatbelts, it was a 1965) to bring him home from the hospital in it. When I saw it, LITERALLY BEHIND MY APARTMENT COMPLEX, for sale for 9500, I did everything I could to come up with the money to buy it back. I couldn't, and who knows where that car is now. Hopefully not parted out to restore some Impala 2 door 🙄

My dad had a moment like this. Many years ago he had an old ski boat from the 70s that he used for pretty much everything from fishing to skiing to work. Dude even installed a winch in the back so he had a way to get himself unstuck. Sold it to some guy decades ago. Fast forward about 15 years. We're coming back from a camping trip and we pass a small row of cars and boats in front of someone's property for sale. My dad does a double take and goes "I think that's my old boat." We turn around and get out to look it over. He's looking at it and then says, "I'll know it was mine because I put a winch in the back." He gets to the back of the boat and sure enough, the old winch is still there. He pretty much went through the same range emotions the boys went through when they found their old cars.

Watching this, not only do I miss this trio, I miss their arguments, their crazy antics and their specials but watching this shows and proves its not "just a car" there truly is an incredible bond between man and machine, its not just about power or speed or seeing who is faster, but more about the memories we make in our cars, not just the destination but the journey, in daily life but also in life in general. Seeing them both get emotional about their cars and how they've found them after so many more specials, that bond betwen man and machine isnt just primal about speed and power but truly about the journey in them.
