I saw someone on Instagram comparing how much time the leads of each season spend together in the first 4 episodes. Her name is Cassandra Morann, she says it's approximate, and she also counted how many moments they have together: Simon and Daphne: 36m 15s, 16 moments. Kate and Anthony: 34m 50s, 18 moments. Penelope and Colin: 35m, 16 moments. So you see, every couple spends a very similar amount of time, and a very similar number of moments, together in the first episodes. But, really, when you consider the previous seasons, Penelope and Colin spend even more time together than that.

I adore Frannie and John's courtship lol. Its different and refreshing. Shows that love doesn't have to only be this passionate grand thing. Something as simple as sitting silent comfortably is just as great as grand gestures.

They definitely kept most of the drama in part 2 from what it seems. It'll obviously be the fallout from the Whistledown secret, and without giving too much away, Cressida and Eloise will actually be key pieces in the second half if they follow their book. Plus, we still have to see Eloise and Penelope make up (if they do at all)

I absolutely adore Violet...but I did notice that she always seems to understand her sons so much better than her daughters. Which I find interesting. I love her scenes with Colin and Anthony.

She has a lot of trouble understanding Eloise, although in _Queen Charlotte_ (when technically she shouldn't have been born yet, but let that pass), young Violet seemed very similar to Eloise. Maybe she thinks that because she changed, Eloise shouldn't have a problem doing it.

In the books, the carriage scene happens after Colin finds out that Penelope is Lady Whistledown, the show clearly changed it for the drama. Also a fun fact: The cast have said that Jess and Nick's first kiss from New Girl was inspiration for some polin moments.

@@TrophyReacts Yes, but we weren't the ones who set the bar so low. So many shows romanticize abusive and toxic relationships (some even literal SA!). You describe this character as boring, but for many women it is refreshing to finally see a man respectful, considerate and caring about his woman's needs. I see this character as very romantic and long-awaited in a romantic film.

Francesca's suitor is John Stirling, Earl of Kilmartin. So, you're not crazy, they did say both names, lol. This season is her backstory. She should have her own season (if Bridgerton is still going strong) as she has her own book (When He Was Wicked). As far as Polin goes, I only know what I read in the book and what I've seen in the trailer for the second half of the season. In the book (Romancing Mr. Bridgerton), Colin is actually the first person to learn her secret identity. The writers/producers have changed so much, but there are some things that will need to be dealt with. Colin still has to learn of her identity and they have to figure out if they can get over it because, remember, he's vowed to ruin Lady Whistledown. In the clips, the Queen has upped her ante on finding Whistledown (in the book it was Lady Danbury, I believe) and there is all the drama associated with that as well. The pair of them have a bit of a rough road ahead and can't wait to see how they write it.

They need this part that takes place before Francesca's book. Some of the books take place, at least in part, at the same time as other books, so I would expect some overlaps on the show.

This season so far is giving all i wanted from Colin and Pen. I'm loving their scenes. I think i said that, but i agree! I'm glad they didn't kept them apart just for some plot device. He loves her, he always loved her, he just didn't know he could desire her. Once that was added, the love is there already and he compromised her in the carriage ( lol) so marriage it is...between them, they already know each other, they are not meeting now. BUT the second half is going to be all the trouble of him finding out She's LW and her LW revel to society.

I really wanted Queen Charlotte to name Pen as the diamond of the season to stir the pot. Imagine all the guys going after Pen, and Colin having to watch. Also, I’m shocked Eloise still hasn’t figured out Pen’s feeling for Colin. Lord Debling figured Colin’s and Pen’s feeling in such little time.

LOL. You got my LIKE with your "Go on, have sex in the carriage. Let's go. I approve this message." Great insights. I agree with the too many subplots. I actually like the Featherington race for an heir subplot - it's different from all the the other love interest plots. I could do without Benedict's yet-another sexual affair (I was bored even though Lady Arnold is gorgeous) and thought they could have had him take on the viscount responsibilities in Anthony's place if it was purely to give Benedict more screen time. Agreed, the Mondrich's plot, sadly, did not pull me in in Part 1 so maybe Part 2. I would have preferred a focus on Colin's writing. I loved the focus on Eloise and Cressida. I'm also loving Violet's potential love story and they DO need to set up Francesca's plot now because of her book (didn't read, but I got some spoilers which I will not divulge out of respect). All in all, looking forward to your reactions to Part 2! I shall return!

yeah this season has been a bit too much Penelope’s sisters and too much Will’s working dilemma. i am loving the Francesa and John though, they’re too cute and add to the story. for me S1 is still the best, unlike a lot of others i didn’t enjoy S2’s main story as much, i just wasn’t as invested in Kate and Anthony as i was in Daphne and Simon, or now in Penelope and Colin but i enjoyed the side stories in S2 more than this season.

I, to this day, don’t understand why the female characters in these stories are never upset that their partners are so promiscuous. They’re never called out on it, the girls are never disgusted, and I have never bought into the idea that one kiss was so magical that he developed standards and self restraint out of no where. Traits like that are worked for. Those guys at the table were right to laugh in his face, he’s just like them. Colin should’ve had at least one episode trying to change and win Penelope over.

​@@bukolaalale8260exactly. Anthony even referred to this when Colin proposed to Marina in season one, said it was his fault for not making him go do that sort of thing. Men were 'getting it out of their system' before settling down, then most were having mistresses after marriage. Love was rare. The idea here is that Colin didn't see Pen as a sexual partner, and didn't have a problem with d*cking around. Once he kissed her, he realized he was attracted to her, and in love with her, and once you achieve that you don't want anyone else seggsually.

The female characters are raised to have high morals or live in complete ignorance, so why are they never bothered by the blatant double standard or once they actually do know like Daphne was when she fussed at her mother for not telling her.

@@mamaseesa3122 How can they expect it they don’t know what happened? And once they do know they never ask their husbands why they couldn’t hold themselves to the same standard. Just because your father and brothers may have taken you no one forced you to go back. None of these characters acknowledge that it’s immoral until the “this woman is my redemption arc” kiss. I know it’s set in a different time period, but One Tree Hill handled this way better with Nathan and Haley. Because both of them have an actual arc I can believe that Hailey got over the fact that Nathan was so promiscuous, and I can believe that Nathan became a better person because of Haley, but not just because they kissed and suddenly all other women magically don’t matter.

In the book Colin had a whole plot one of searching for a purpose after travelling so much. Anthony had his viscount business, Benedict had his art… and Colin felt he didn’t have a passion/purpose in my life … that added to me his character development and added levels that made him less boring. The show took it out till now, making him very bland.

Too many side stories… it’s a mess at times. Not enough scenes with Colin and Penelope and it’s their season. Totally agree with you. It was disappointing I’m ok with Francesca’s story.

Look in yt for Colin and Penelope's story. It's a compilation from season 1 to 3 and you can see that the first 4 episodes are alright. I recommend watching the episodes a second time. To me it also seemed very rushed and with little interaction between Colin and Penelope. But when I watched it a second time I was able to appreciate their scenes and the performances (Luke's micro expressions are spectacular!) and understand their story better and so far I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

I think it is a shame that they split this season in 2 parts. The pacing feels a bit off because of it. And I agree with you on Colin. I didn't read the books, but based on the show it all stays a bit on the surface so he feels quite blank. It's mainly the writing, not the acting I guess.
