The point of the queen and the royal family, is to be a symbol of the people. For example: In American courts, the proceeding may begin with the line "The people vs the defendant". But in Britain it's "Your majesty vs the defendant". So when we say "god save the queen", we are not concerned about the queens' health. I'll try to give a comprehensive answer to this British culture; certainly in England, is steeped in tradition and looking back to "How things were". Too much so, in my opinion. But the monarchy is an integral part of our past, as is the national anthem "God Save The (King or Queen) adopted over 200 years ago. So you have a culture steeped in tradition, combined with a generally consistent love of the Royal Family for hundreds of years. This is why, I feel, we won't be saying "For the people" anytime soon. We are not a Republic, and, generally speaking, the culture has no wish to become one. As stated, I maintain that British culture looks back on its past, or an idealised version of it, too much. But a titanic culture change would be needed to unseat the Royal Family. I don't see that happening anytime soon, even if they no longer enjoy near total adoration

That point actually bothered me the most. It's so incredibly intrusive, disrespectful, and inconsiderate. Giving birth is freaking hard. I've done it twice. It's as close to death as a woman can get. Some women have easy births but most of us...holy shit! Afterwards it's hard to get up let alone stand, and the last thing you want is to be standing in front of a crowd of people and media showing off your baby. It takes time to rest and heal. You look freaking awful and you don't want to be bothered. At least wait for the mother and baby to be discharged and that's at least 3 or 4 days after giving birth. The mother has at least had time to rest, shower, comb her hair, and dress comfortablely. And is sitting in a wheelchair. Smh

I'm not too deep into the whole ordeal but she was in france with her boyfriend, they were chased again and had a car crash because of that. What I can say is that it was expected of the princes to behave ceremonial, no public grieving or anything. Harry was I think 10-12 or something. Hi, British person here! This situation has always been super bizarre to me as, as much as it was all over the news, most people just do not care. Most British people don't even care about the royal family at all. unless there's a jubilee or something and we get an extra holiday. As far as Harry and Meghan are concerned, I don't really know why people cared at the time. However, I can say now that what rubs quite a few people I know the wrong way is that they left the royal family because they didn't like the media attention, and now they are living somewhere else making money off books and documentaries and all kinds of media attention. I also know that Harry's biography covered a few controversial moments in his life and rather that explaining what happening he just explained how whatever it was he said or did was someone else's fault. Obviously, I don't want to pass judgement, because I don't know them, or really anything about their situation when it comes down to it but, you can see how these things combined are not a good look. Don't know why people were so butt-hurt about them leaving in the first place though.
