I know I’m an old head on 2k, been running since 2k11 mycrews when people were usb stick uploading 7’6 MJ lookalikes. Been through the gamebattles years where everyone used the clippers, Knicks, lakers, okc, cheese. Where people used to sit out of bounds under the basket to not get a 3 second call. I’ve seen it all, but I always came back because I knew if I had my homies playing basketball the right way, cutting moving the ball, getting open, you could always have a fighting chance. If you had IQ and teamwork, you didn’t need to have the best animations, the optimal shot, the most fine tuned builds so that every person perfectly compliments each other. But every year, the skill gap reduces more and more and more. 2k rewards bad selfish gameplay. It rewards playing PNR with a 99 3 PG and a 99 O rebounding center and the other three sitting on the wings. It rewards not passing the ball with unrealistic steal animations. It rewards players with 0 perimeter defense and 99 steal just spamming X. It rewards lazy 2-3 zones instead of well balanced builds where you can actually defend. I don’t win or lose this year, the game just decides if I win or lose. And ya maybe I’m trash but I shouldn’t have to sweat all the time just to have fun playing basketball without needing to spend hours strategizing builds and animations and setups. Just let us hoop man. Reward us when we make a good basketball play. I guarantee if 2k does that, the community will be forced to adapt. And they can do it, but they won’t, cuz it doesn’t maximize the number of builds people pay for. We bought *NBA* 2k25 and people don’t even use nba teams anymore. There’s no substitutions, there’s no understanding who is capable of what. Some players can shoot only, some can only rebound, some are all around. That was so much fun. Now, you make your guy be good at one thing and that’s the only thing you need to do. And people see these legends like they’re nice, nah they just good little sheep that find the exploits in the system, and pay a bunch of money to do it too. At this point, I get one build and just ride with it. I get my basketball fix and I move on. Such a shame where we’ve gotten to.

I’d take it a step further and say at times 2k flat out dictates your experience by inexplicably kicking you from games (usually a game you’re winning/playing extremely well), giving you lopsided matchups, even going so far as the song choice playing in the background that seems eerily reminiscent of your current gaming experience… I’m sure a lot of these insidious practices are designed to keep players constantly making new builds in hopes of addressing perceived weaknesses in their other builds.

I turned passive dribble back on - no difference . When it’s off my player will still hit tween crosses and crossovers without using the right stick at all. You’re never in full control of the dribbling unless you’re a LR spammer

The catches are f**king terrible in this game…. Hopped on 23(old gen) and had no problems catching a ball, and it was way more responsive, crazy

can you talking about how in showdown and salary cap players settings get changed mid game and when you try to change it back you get a error code and the game turns off....?

i can barely play 3 games a day back then i would play like 8-10 games . i cant even get through 3 games always getting some bogus error code when my settings get changed

Has anyone else not received the code for NBA League Pass? The main reason I purchased the game was to be able to get access to the NBA league pass and I’ve message to Kay on multiple times through multiple platforms only to get no response or to be told that the code is on its way but now we’re weeks away from the deadline and I don’t believe I’ll be receiving what I paid for

If I get 2k26 for free I'll play. I overpaid for 25's standard edition, and as far as optimization goes. I've been saying the same thing about 2k24 they just need to improve on what was already there, but here we are quitting 2k or gaming in general because for some of us 2k was the only game we played.

I don’t fully agree or disagree with the criticism around the annual releases. Every year, I hear discussions about how bad the game is, and while improvements can always be made, the truth is, these games are released annually because we demand them. By April or May, we’re already discussing the next version. As consumers, we buy, so they create. Sure, they could maintain the same game and release updates, or even make it free considering how much money we spend on microtransactions. I'd love to carry over what I purchase from year to year. But at the end of the day, I love basketball and won’t stop playing. It's a great game that I enjoy for what it is. I used to love NBA Live too-I’m old school, and we’ve come a long way since Double Dribble. Keep 2K alive.
