I had always assumed with the 'Mia OD', was foreshadowed when Lance tells Vincent that he's out of balloons for the "Madman" (normal heroin dispensing practice) so he asks his wife Jodi for some baggies and twistix....hence Mia getting confused as to what's in Vincent's jacket pocket and treating it like a normal bump of coke.

The discussion about what makes the character cool is quite interesting, but I don't think that it's just about the power. Racists at the pawn shop didn't come across as cool, yet they were definitely in the position of power. Morals? Well, Jules and Vince murdered Brett in cold blood while he was sitting defenseless and scared shitless on a chair. P.S. My favourite Tarantino movie is Reservoir Dogs.
@agammamon91104 жыл бұрын
The motorcycle sound at the beginning can't be Butch - Butch killed Vincent before the pawn shop scene (at the end of which he steals Zed's chopper).
@marksterling82864 жыл бұрын
I just watched this and thought the exact same thing. You are absolutely correct. Maybe what we hear is Zeds chopper but with Zed riding it.

Oh Riley ( 8:45 ) can you imagine our surprise at a movie theater in Greece when we actually heard a not-so-well-known rebetiko song back in the 90s? After that point Misirlou (at least the Tarantino version) was never far away from any DJ's repertoire in the country, ever and still is ridiculously recognised as the "our song that Tarantino used" :)

21:16 most of the time people will miss what the director or screen writer is trying to convey, so when they film out of order like that, its to make the audience ponder more and actually bring up a satisfying conclusion. Its likes when love is blossoming between two people, and one is hinting at it. Give it more time and questions the other will realize whats going on.
@chanceneck8072 Жыл бұрын
One of the most infamous editing mistakes I've ever noticed in a Tarantino movie: When Butch stabs the gimp with the katana, they have one cut where he draws the sword quickly back to Zed (because he was about to charge at Butch) but then they cut back and we see Butch draw the sword back from stabbing the gimp!
@Maximum_Nova2 жыл бұрын
this is an old video but James says that the diner scene is chronologically the final scene of the movie when Vincent gets smoked by Butch at some point in the timeline, so that must be later in the timeline, unless Vincent has a clone who dies at Butch's apartment

Hey, ignore this comment if its off the mark but just my two cents. You three play off each other extrememly well and all the antics add to the show. James throwing a sponsor spot over to an unsuspecting Riley is a good time. All three of you have wildly different mpvie backgrounds and perspectives which is what makes the show kinda unique. If any of you ever get frustrated with each other just know that the chemistry is really there. Edit: I'm not a cinephile (maybe a light movie buff without the cinematography knowledge) but this podcast is straight entertaining outside of the "quality of review" box. I can't judge the quality of your reviews but I can judge the entertainment. All three of you bring a different but important part to the entertainment factor. Please keep at this. Edit 2: please do Reservoir Dogs at some point and some Coenn brothers stuff. The Coenn brothers would make some interesting content
@noavalentine1894 жыл бұрын
Within the film, I thought it was interesting that because of the non linear format the story takes, Jules as a character cant really complete his "hero's journey" or get out of the business so to speak as the film starts pretty much in the same scenario the film end on but elongated.

James people also sniff Heroin lol. Heroin is like powdered percocet they're opioids many begin with addiction to percocet sniff heroin to stop the pain cause it's cheaper & then switch to the needle cause it's even cheaper other wise withdrawal makes them puke&poop simultaneously while in intense pain. That's how my dad died he OD'd on heroin. Thank you for your perspective I'm not upset or triggered I think it's a great show just dropping my perspective. I love your innocence though it's adorable. I hate prohibition as much as overdoses & see little difference between alcohol & heroin, but people get addicted to gambling and porn if we're gonna be real addiction is a disease not a crime.

Riley is obsessed with morals to take away from movies. None of Tarantino's movies have that and movies in general aren't obliged to have that. I have no idea why he insists on measuring them on a metric they were never made to excel on.

Here are a few things. 1. Non-blacks are using the "N" word more often today than in the 1990's. I was a young adult in the 1990's the only non-blacks to use it as casually today were being racist. 2. The car booths from the Jack Rabbit Slime set are in the dinner at the Fry's in Burbank. From Hollywood you get there by taking Vine to Cahuenga, turn right on Barham go pass Gate 4 at Uni, the continue on Olive by Warner Brothers, turn left onto Hollywood Way by Gate 4 of the WB lot, take Hollywood Way down to Vanowen. It's a 19-45 minute drive depending on traffic. 3. Drug users can tell the difference between heroine and coke by the look and feel. 4. You guys should have one of the LMG editors re-cut the movie to be chronological. You have the technology, you have the power. Terantino sounds like a guy who would get a kick out of that. 5. In the 1990's you could listen on non-digital cellphones with special equipment. Also the US Government ruled it was legal for law enforcement to do so without a warrant. Even though I am pretty sure the phone Vega was using was a digital cell phone.

If it's entertaining, don't ask why you are watching, don't analyze while watching, just enjoy. Movies are meant to enjoy. Analyze after, not during. You will have more enjoyment.

No everything needs to have the same pacing. It feels more real when they let the talking at the apt door continue. I like variety in everything. Same with movies. If the content is good, feels real and is entertaining, then it doesn't have to follow the rules.

If you haven't watched this movie at least 5 times, you have no business reviewing it! Especially if you had never seen it and only watched it because you HAD to review it. There is so many things to take in that nobody gets on the first viewing. And BTW, there IS a chronological version for people that can't seem to piece the scenes together in their heads.
