All I can say is when I get out of school, no nurse is going to be bullying or chewing me up.... yeah nope. There’s no room for that kind of foolishness in healthcare; when I am the old nurse decades from now, that bullshit still won’t fly when I am there.

I’m a pre-nursing student and work at a doctors office. The gossiping and patient ignorance is such a huge thing. This is so true even at my clinic. At the end of the day I remind myself to stay focused on my work and don’t take to heart about the public’s opinion because I know what is right and what isn’t 😊

As a female nurse I can definitely confirm that there is more drama among fields with predominately women vs. predominately men. Usually units that have more gender balance have less of this issue. Most male nurses work in the ER or ICU so those types of units may have less of this problem. Also, in terms of nurses eating their young, I don't think I have had any personal experience with this. I think medical professionals eat their young in general. Have you ever thought of all the things medical residents have to go through before becoming an attending? Any noble profession will come with great challenges. Many times the people in your profession will be the challenge. It's important to stay grounded and get the skills you need so you can move on to better jobs or careers in the future. Just my 2 cents. Great video as usual Kaynen!

Also, your description of dealing with aggressive, addicted and criminal people in the ER shows the difficulties our nurses and doctors have to deal with and I'm sorry for that. @@kaynenbrown5102, oh, I meant during the job orientation process! I realized several of the hospitals I applied at mention how so and so will, ‘‘eat their young.’’ It not only pertains to nursing, but the hospital culture, overall. For instance, my friend who is a respiratory therapist, along with someone I know who is a physician told me they mention that exact statement during their first few weeks of getting employed. It is quite saddening, hah. Hopefully, we will see a paradigm shift in the forthcoming years. Also, how are the physician assistant interviews going!?

I'm not a nurse but my mom is, seems like the "nurses eating their young" thing is women politics, but could just be a workplace thing too. I was thinking I was going to go the PTA route but after seeing the questionability of the future with recent changes and even PTA's complaining about recently being out of a job for the first time and a lot of competition, nursing school again seems like the route for a good secure job that's available in any town and city

Great video!!! You are 100% right and I couldn’t agree more with all of these aspects. And honestly, even though these are negative aspects of the field I appreciate the way you present them and still maintain positivity overall with yourself and advocate for a better workplace and how you don’t worry about it. Some people on KZbin will definitely make these kinds of videos but then will spend 15-20 mins bashing everything nursing but I appreciate your outlook on it and your advice on the matter! It’s just an odd mentality that nurses have that discouraging other nurses or bullying them or competing with them overall is ok and it’s just “tough love”. Nah, make me feel apart of a TEAM that I’ve been eager to be apart of since I started college. Thanks for keeping it real, it’s appreciated!!! 👍🏻

I’ve been working since I was 16 and the best job but low paying was a cashier job at Burlington coat factory that had a variety of races and sexes. The worst job I had but highest paying is nursing because the staff is predominantly female who are PETTTTTTTY PETTY miserable Katty girls who find things to blow your happiness. And if you don’t clap back as my passive self has done for a while it continues but clap back show your knowledge and don’t hold grudges it’ll dissipate slowly.

@kaynenbrown5102 5 жыл бұрын
Daehan Harris Hahah Pascoooooooo😎. You’re correct I don’t believe you will have a grade issue. In terms of the interview I always recommend people “be themselves”. What I mean by this is rather that rehears your answers for possible question they will ask you, only practice what you would say if ask certain questions. “What do you want to become a nurse”....don’t have something memorized, but rather have a story or situation in your head that you would like to tell them. This makes your interview sound so much more personal rather than rehearsed. Do this for all of the potential questions they may ask you. Focus more so on what story, event, experience etc that you could talk about rather than literally word for word what you are going to say.:)
