Really great advice! I gave the same tips to my son when he moved out on his own.

I'm moving to the other side of the US for college in a couple months, and this advice is helping me feel more confident about the big change coming my way! Thank you!

Agree with all of these, but the credit card one requires more explanation. Pay it off in full every month and don't go above 30% of the credit limit. If you don't think you will able to do this, get a Fizz card. It acts like a debit card, but builds your credit. Too many U.S. college students get into credit card debt. You want to avoid that.

The intern tip is very, very important.

This ''get a creditcard'' card thing is only for americans. Here in europe we don't have a ''build a credit'' system. So many people don't even own a credit card. Much safer to use debit card, so u don't spend money you don't have.

Having credit history when you graduate makes it way easier to get future apartment and car leases. Just don't buy more than you can afford.
