Dr. Berg, You saved my life! Last year, I was scheduled to have a hysterectomy however, I saw your video regarding the effects of hysterectomies. I started healthy keto, working out, intermittent fasting, taking your sea kelp, taking your vitamin D(20 IU's) and left my job as a Teacher(super stressful). I had fibroids on my uterus, cysts on my liver, cysts on my kidneys and now they are ALL gone!! In November 2021, I weighed 147lbs. and today I weigh 118lbs. I'm 5'3, 54 years old and an African-American woman!! I feel and look better than when I was 16 years old😁 Dr. Berg is the REAL DEAL! I'm living proof.

Thank you for this video Dr. Berg...very timely for me. I had multiple myoma uteri, had D & C last July and result of biopsy is not cancerous at all but my OBGyn wants to proceed with hysterectomy of which I had second thoughts. I am looking for uterine fibroid embolization, is it a better option to hysterectomy? Thank you and God bless.

I had a total hysterectomy at 30. I had severe endometriosis. My surgeon said it was the worst he’d ever seen. My ovaries were covered in growths. My fallopian tubes were swollen and inflamed and my uterus was infected. I felt better the day after with an 8” incision across my belly than I did the day before. My surgery was necessary and I have no regrets. I’m 62 now.

Hormone replacement therapy is generally not advisable for about a year after a hysterectomy with endometriosis. Not every speck of wayward implants can be seen and removed. Hormones would simply continue development of implants and cause increasing adhesions and pain.

@@chelseaK11 I was a Nurse Practitioner specializing in reproductive medicine and frankly never saw an unwarranted hysterectomy. Not every woman can endure pelvic/abdominal/back pain with or without heavy bleeding for just a possibility that symptoms may lessen following menopause. Been there-done that. It's no way to live. Estrogen replacement has risks, retaining ovaries is a medical decision to be discussed with the woman.

I am glad that this video is out there. Given the culture telling women to do this needlessly. That said I had the surgery at 29. Still have my ovaries so no hrt. My mother had fibroids. I had fibroids- enough so that wouldn't allow any more pregnancies. My younger sister at 32 is in remission for ovarian cancer. I am sure that i very well could have been in her shoes if I waited longer.

The day the doctor told me I had fibriods and the first thing he asked was when are we gonna schedule that hysterectomy? I said never and walked out after the ultrasound. I was 50. The fight to keep my uterus was on every since. Last heavy period I had I was 59. After doing my research I juiced, took a female herb and took my vitamins and changed my diet and my period got lighter and lighter until it disappeared. Just turned 60 now I am spoting. I went through the heavy bleeding for a month, anemia, blood transfusion and in and out the hospital but in the end I still have it. I prayed a lot and put it in the hands of God and not the doctor because I didnt trust him at all. I pray for healing for all women who are going through this. I wouldn't wish what I went through on no one. God bless you all

I had adenomyosis (enlarged uterus), to the point where I was pretty much in daily pain. For years, I resisted hysterectomy, and tried out every treatment out there in the hope that I could fix it. Uterine embolization, homeopathic remedies, fasting, Chinese medicine, cabbage juice… my pantry was filled with supplements and painkillers. It got so bad that I had to see a therapist just to not feel so defeated in the end: despite everything I tried, my uterus kept getting larger. Hysterectomy was my last solution. Now, eight months later, I’m 95% pain free, and able to live life normally and guilt free. I didn’t cause this illness to me, and I don’t regret getting hysterectomy at all. You know your condition the best, these KZbin videos are just reference info, not the only info you should base your decision on.

Last scan my uterus wasn’t enlarged, think due to having Mirena iud & stopping the cycles, though hasn’t stopped the pain. I’m booked in for my hysterectomy in a month. Nervous but done with all this pain & I’ve tried everything else. Reading your response has really helped. Thank you.

I've watched the video and read most of the comments here telling how positive their hysterectomy was for them. But I would suggest if possible to follow Dr. Berg's advice/info. My experience was after I had my fifth baby at age 30, the doctor wanted to do a hysterectomy because he said my chances of getting uterine cancer was high. Thank God I didn't follow his advice. I'm now 80 years old going on 81 and still cancer free. 😀 Could I still get cancer? Maybe, but by golly, I've lived all these years intact.

I had a complete abdominal at age 23 without my consent. It was considered a medical emergency surgery and when I woke up everything was gone. Ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, everything. I am now 64 and have suffered all my life because of this. I have aged as though I'm 80 years old. I have osteoporosis, glaucoma, a multitude of digestive disorders, on and on... The reason for the surgery was because I had severe endometriosis and cysts had developed around both ovaries, so I was told they had to go. I'll never know the real truth, but I know it has devastated my entire life. I was young and this was way before the internet, so I do hope with today's resources women are better able to stand up for themselves and question everything. Blessings....

I had a full hysterectomy 20 years ago, for endometriosis and fibroid tumors and I am very glad I had my hysterectomy! I have not had pain since I've had it. If anyone has endometriosis they understand how painful that is every day and trying to live with that pain every day, especially when the pain get so bad just from a sneeze or just comes on to the point where you can't even walk. So yes I am very glad I had my hysterectomy! The doctor said that it was the worst case of endometriosis she ever seen and even if I chose to keep my ovaries because I did ask to keep my ovaries , but during my surgery the doctor had to come out and tell my husband that the Endo was so bad around my ovaries, that I would be back in about 3 years to have them removed because the endometriosis will still continue and cause pain. And the diet that you suggest, I already was not eating any dairy products and I was eating the other stuff that you say that can stop or help the pain with endometriosis and it didn't help with the pain. I am 65 now and I had my surgery at 42 and none of the problems you described up above in your video has happened to me. I have gained a little weight but I'm not overweight and I think that's normal for a 65-year-old woman.

Good point! I put off a hysterectomy for about 3 years (I had fibroids and an enlarged uterus), hoping to go into menopause so that I wouldn't have to worry about endometrial cancer, which runs in my paternal side. When I kept menstruating after months of not, my doctor and I agreed to do the surgery, as my relatives who died from endometrial cancer all had the same problem, starting around the age I was when I agreed to the surgery. I had done my research and discussed it with my doctor thoroughly. I've had no negative effects from the surgery itself, and I'm glad I had it. I also researched hormone replacement therapy and told my doctor I wanted bioidentical hormones only, to deal with menopause (I kept my ovaries, but of course they are shutting down, albeit slowly). The point is -- medicine is not a one-size-fits-all, and I'm sure Dr. Berg would be the first to agree that for some women, the right choice is a hysterectomy. Good for you for pointing that out, and I hope you continue to enjoy your post-menopausal years!

I pray you ladies are feeling better and well! The men dont; get it. It's an awful thing to suffer with and then you get people telling you what to do- and you are at risk for cancer- you make the best decision you can with all the information that is out there and you listen to your own gut. And you most certainly pray. I hope you ladies are alright and make your life the best and healthiest! Some people think this is an easy situation or thing to do-opt for a hysterectomy. It's NOT! And it takes a lot time to recover and you are never same afterwards-but hopefully, you are not suffering severely. The men just need to zip it!

I understand that hysterectomy is not a decision that is easy to make. I tried so much to avoid it by following all the advice my holistic doctor gave me but I ended up doing it. For 10 years I had irregular periods and a gradual build up of excruciating pain in my uterus- I just could not put it off any longer and having that surgery allowed me to regain my life again. The biopsy of my uterus confirmed that I had adenomyosis- where endometrial tissues grows into the uterus. Extremely painful! I was only 36. Pain consumes the best years of my life. Luckily I did not have my ovaries removed, it was a decision I did not take lightly yet it saved my quality of life. Dr Berg can you do a video on adenomyosis for your viewers…

I just wrote a pretty long comment about my Adenomyosis and some details about following Dr. Berg's diet and supplement info. For some reason, I don't see my comment on this page at all. I was vehemently against hysterectomy for Adenomyosis for years due to videos just like this. Tried everything he suggests to estrogen dominance plus strict keto diet for general health in addition to cutting out a lot of things. (I had already quit sugar many years ago.) Even if you don't have a life-threatening issue, your issue can certainly be life-preventing...mine was. Did research on excellent surgeons and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and found a non-communication uterine horn with it's own Adenomyosis growing up behind my hip bone. both were larger than average uteri...the pain brought me close to passing out on many occasions. I understand your pain, too. I think messages like the one in this video might be based on old, outdated surgery techniques.

@@ChampaAinjel I think every case is different. I do believe that many doctors jump to the idea of surgery without a concrete diagnosis. For me, during those 10 years of seeing over 8 different doctors 7 of them could not tell me what I had. All they said was - “why are you suffering, so many women get their uterus removed”. I could not take that statement well. I knew of the consequences Dr Berg mentions- Until I met a cancer specialist who showed me my MRI results and sat down with so much professionalism and above all compassion- that he showed the proof I needed to remove my uterus. I was going mad with pain but I refused to take it out just because. I needed to know why… why me, I was just in my 30s. The anti inflammatory diets worked at the beginning, but as the illness progressed and then it eventually it was not enough. However, not everyone has the same experiences. So I do believe women should give the lifestyle a try and God willing they can achieve a healthier prognosis than me. Best of luck to all ladies out there suffering in silence. May God give you wisdom and fortitude.

Thank you Doctor for pointing out you should think twice about having a hysterectomy. I held off as long as I could before having one because I was a high school teacher. If I didn’t have my surgery when I did, I don’t think I would be alive today. Besides having massive fibroids (I always looked pregnant) with horrendous periods, I did experience severe back pains. The day after the surgery, my gynecologist came into my room and apologized for my condition. She explained to me that she could not save my ovaries because they were wrapped around my bowel-which explained my back pain. I had an advanced case of endometriosis that she had never seen before which explained the horrendous bleeding I experienced for months. On top of things, I was iron depleted! As she told me, my insides were a mess. On the second day after the surgery, I felt like a million bucks. The anesthesiologist came to my room and asked why I wasn’t using the pain pump. I told him I wasn’t in any pain. He took the pump away from me and told me to tell the nurse if I needed something for pain-which I didn’t. Fast forward 30 years, yes, I did gain weight, and the only real side effect I started to experience recently is I am incontinent which I can live with. I did have a bone density test a month ago, and there were no signs of osteoporosis.

I had a partial hysterectomy a year ago and it was one of the best decisions I could have made. I couldn't do anything because I constantly bled. My uterus weighing over 3 lbs, as it was full of fibroids. My uterus looked like grapes 🍇 on a vine. My cycles were debilitating. I wore depends overnight pads and slept with a towel in the bed and still bled through everything. My doctor didn't force me into having the surgery at all; it was my own choice after suffering for many years. I had to get iron infusions, which I ended up being allergic to. I had to get FMLA because I couldn't work. My blood was so low that they said I needed a blood transfusion. I feel like a new woman now. No more low iron, lethargy, dark circles under my eyes; I now have my life back. My PCP hugged me when I told her that I decided to have the surgery. She told me I was heading for a heart attack due to my heart overworking to pump blood that I did not have. I can't tell anyone what to do nor am I person that jumps to go under the knife, but I will say that this was my 1st and last major surgeries and it worked for me. I lost weight, (25 lbs) I haven't experienced any of these issues listed and I am now 50. I love Dr. Berg for his great info and caring for us. I wish you all that are experiencing this horrible experience good health and may God bless you 🙏🏽

Even if there is no pain- bleeding every month for days is not fun at all and sometimes, you have to plan your life around calculating your period. The problem is many women aren't given all the options or given informed consent. Fibroids can often be removed. SAFE hormones can help in some situations and most women don't realize some years later they may end up with a small bowel obstruction from scar tissue or that their internal organs may shift and cause different issues.

I had a hysterectomy at 36 years old. My ovaries were left in situ. I had severe endometriosis and haemorrhagia as well as adenomyalgia. I was always anaemic and lived with excruciating pain for three weeks of every four. I had horrible PMS that doubled the size of my breasts, again causing very severe pain. When the surgery was done, my uterus was enlarged so it was sent to the path lab and very early precancerous tissue was found. Thank God I had the surgery. I'm 63 and much younger women compliment me on my figure! The surgery gave me a life I hadn't known since my first period. I had two children, both difficult deliveries, which worsened my condition. My health markers are good. My bones are strong and resilient, proved by a crashing fall I had off low scaffolding onto concrete. I was hideously bruised but all my bones were just fine. I eat a lot of dairy products, by the way. I'm not less of a person or less of a woman because I don't have a uterus. My quality of life became immeasurably better, and that is worth much more than having an intact reproductive tract!

As you can imagine, my health was never the same and i've had a plethera of autoimmune issues that have grown over the years which have consumed my life. I once was told to get a hysterectomy and found quite a bit of information about reasons not to. For me, hysterectomy never should have even been brought up by the doctor, there was zero reason to, other than my age. Women need to be better informed because not ONCE did that doctor mention any of the possible adverse effects. Not one single time and when I brought up the one thing I did know…pelvic floor weakening….he got attitude and said it is very rare. If it is so rare why do I know 7 women who suffer from it after their hysterectomy and one of those women also has bowel issues?? No answer, just denial. So thank you. If a woman is fully informed, only then can she make the best choice for her body and health.

I have to say this, I am 67 years old and had a total hysterectomy when I turned 63. The only thing that I personally noticed that bothers me is the way my bowel fill the space were the uterus was when I have to go to the bathroom. But that goes away afterwards. I have never had HRT and still don't have it. Since my surgery I've lost at least 10 kgs but that is because of lifestyle changes. In my opinion as you get older you body changes and you have to change to adapt to those changes. Therefore you would not necessarily gain 25 lbs as mentioned. I don't have a leaky bladder - in fact - I have quite the opposite I drink a half litre of water before I go to bed and don't have to wake up in the night. I would say that women should know everything there is to know before doing this surgery. Some women uterus drop and that causes backaches. There are pros and cons so learning as much as you can is very important. I don't regret doing my surgery.

This is a quote from the only smart doctor I've read about "One of the themes that I return to over and over in this newsletter and in my books is that, ultimately, your health care decisions-whether it be which vitamins to take or whether or not to have chemotherapy-need to be made by you. Not your doctor or therapist, not a parent or a spouse, not your best friend-you. This can feel like a cold, lonely reality to a person facing life-or-death medical decisions, but it has been my observation over the past fifty years that those patients who listen to their intuition tend to make the best choices. If it doesn’t feel right in your gut, don’t do it."

I had a complete hysterectomy due to a rapidly growing tumor that occurred within months after undergoing a lumpectomy and radiation for stage 0 Estrogen fueled breast cancer. The timer was 2.2 lbs…but thankfully was benign. My life has been misery ever since. My formerly slim hips and legs and flat belly have evolved into a barrel like mis section… extreme fatigue… achy back…and 15 lb weight gain. I do think my surgery was likely necessary due to the breast cancer situation and I certainly understand the concern by my gynecologist oncologist. Also, I was extremely anemic which has since resolved itself. But if a woman has other options PLEASE CONSIDER THEM. And yes the leaky bladder is the real thing…and it is AWFUL. At 55 I rely in Tena pads. Not an easy road. That, paired with the five year Tamoxifen that ends in February 2023 I have been an absolute wreck. Also, I look like I’ve aged 10 years overnight. Thank you Dr. Berg. Ladies…please get 2nd or third opinions.

You might consider changing the title of this video because for women with endometriosis, uterine prolapse and other gynecological conditions the curative treatment IS a hysterectomy and for those women it can be life changing in the most positive way! This advice seems better suited for women who are considering an elective hysterectomy. Just a thought.

I have a history of fibroids and endometriosis. During my childbearing years I had heavy bleeding. At age 36 I had a myomectomy to remove the fibroids. A few years later when the fibroids grew back my doctor wanted to do a hysterectomy but my insurance wouldn’t pay for it citing there were “ other things” that could be done other than hysterectomy. So I had embolism. The fibroids grew back again as I was in peri menopause. My doctor said because I was going into menopause my estrogen levels would decrease and the fibroids would just die. So I am now 12 years post menopause and a month ago started bleeding. I was just diagnosed with endometrial cancer. All I keep thinking is if insurance would have paid for my hysterectomy back when my doctor said I needed it, I wouldn’t be having to go through cancer now!!!

I had severe endometriosis, fibroids, you name it. I'm very well aware that hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis, but it was the best decision for me. I kept my ovaries. I dedicated myself to having a proper diet, working out, and supplementation. For me, my life has improved tremendously. I am seeing some symptoms from having a partial hysterectomy, but they are way more tolerable than the pain and discomfort from endometriosis and fibroids. It is not a perfect ending, but it is a happy one. I did a lot of research for many years, long and hard and try to maintain those illnesses properly before. It didn't work. It's a very individual decision that must be made with informed consent.

I had a hysterectomy due to fibroids. I was vegetarian, took vitamins regularly, and was on black cohosh for years since early 20s. My period became irregular to the point that it did not stop. My gynecologist was shocked because I was healthy, not even anemic. I am 2 years out now. The best decision I made regarding my health felt better immediately while in recovery. I do pelvic floor therapy, yoga, and pilates. None of the side effects mentioned. I still have my ovaries, but everything else was removed. Personally, it was my only option. I had so many fibroids that they stopped counting at 20. Please take care of yourself before surgery if needed. It will make for a better recovery😘

She says it's from the hysterectomy. She says it ruined her. I believe God put our body parts in us for a reason. She never had cancer but the Dr. Said it a possibility because she had bad cells. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have had it done. It was a horrible, botched operation too and I needed morphine for days and they wrecked my abdomen. Scarred for life. I've commented before I watched this vid, something I never usually do but on this occasion I know you're correct. I had an oopherectomy in 2012 - I was 47 at the time, a decision I have regretted ever since. To be thrown into an instant full-on menopause was the most difficult & depressing time in my life. Great vid Dr Berg & spot on. Wish I'd watched a vid like this one before the op. Every symptom you listed I had. The lower back pain was constant & excruciating. Went from a uk size 10 to a size 16 in a matter of months & I had zero libido, was depressed, cried & argued constantly with my husband. Starting keto back in march of this year was out of sheer desperation for me. I was waking up in the morning with feelings of sheer dread & was seriously contemplating ending it all. Keto turned everything around.

I was colon hydrotherapist for years and saw the effects of hysterectomies on my clients. They often complained of constipation because their colons had shifted after the procedure. They also had hormonal changes that effected them greatly, usually resulting in taking replacement hormones. Many of them regretted it. The doctors treated it like it is some wasteful organ that is just a nuisance. I personally would never get a hysterectomy, no matter what. If my periods are painful or if I have pms, I know it’s a sign that my lifestyle is unhealthy in some way, not that there is something wrong with my uterus. The womb is such a deeply sacred organ, it breaks my heart just thinking of cutting it out.

I wish I had known this information before my hysterectomy. They took out everything, ie, uterus; ovaries; tubes; cervix and left me with pelvic floor prolapse that has never been properly addressed. I now how multiple organ prolapse resulting in extreme pain and severe bowel and bladder problems and no longer have any health insurance. I discovered that while my healthcare providers stated that my organs were "diseased and must be removed", a lab report I discovered claimed that my organs that they removed were in fact, "healthy", not diseased at all, as they had claimed. I am a victim of and credible witness against a very real worldwide organized crime group that includes, but is not limited to, Corrupt Healthcare Providers, Corrupt Politicians, Corrupt Law Enforcement Personnel, Corrupt Bankers; etc. I am a Former Federal Employee/Whistleblower that they are ALL retaliating against in the most cruel and inhumane ways imaginable. @@SN-sz7kw Obviously cancer is a completely different dynamic. Chronic pain, I totally understand and I also had children depending on me and their Father refused to come home and help out with them and no help from any family members and/or friends. You would be amazed at how much you can do, if needed. However, knowing the extent of possible negative side effects and how said possible negative side effects could destroy ones life, would have given me much needed information and helped me make an informed decision about my long-term health. Children grow up. Periods stop at some point. You can't put your organs back inside once they are gone. The damage is done and permanent. It is a hard decision to make and shouldn't be made lightly and uninformed of all possible negative side effects. I am just saying one should be fully informed and truly understand the possible consequences before making such a deeply, personal decision. Yes, it absolutely does need to be your decision. Your body. Your decision.

My mother had a hysterectomy around 30 years ago because she had a tumor the size of a grapefruit. It was benign, but she had it anyway. Thankfully, she never had most of these symptoms. She never needed hormone replacement. She was very lucky. That was heartbreaking, though, because her doctor told her she either had a tumor or was pregnant, and we got so excited thinking I would have a baby sibling and when she got the call that her blood test was negative we cried. I’m still an only child.

Do not take oral estrogen; you want to bypass the liver. Transdermal is what I am using and prometrium which is the healthier form of progesterone. Most of my prescriptions were written by my HMO doctor after they tried to scare me out of it. The first time before I knew better (and perhaps she didn't either) they gave me provera. The oral synthetic ones were used in the big WHI trial they still cite incorrectly as proving HRT is harmful. Hello, there is a difference between a hysterectomy and an oophorectomy. Not all hysterectomies involve removing the ovaries. More commonly the ovaries are LEFT BEHIND for women under the age of 65 to decrease risk of all cause mortality. Unless, obviously there is pathology on the ovary. Again, please differentiate the removal of the UTERUS ONLY (hysterectomy) and the OVARIES (oophorectomy). The fallopian tubes can be removed to decrease risk of certain ovarian cancers. Please clarify! Many patients are misinformed about hysterectomy including the ovaries, which it DOES NOT by strict definition. Thank you for your videos.

I'm so glad I declined getting a hysterectomy for extremely heavy periods when going through peri menopause. I figured eventually the bleeding would stop with menopause, hysterectomy is a permanent procedure with a host of problems for a temporary inconvenience. To those who had a good outcome from the procedure, more power to you, but I think far too many women get talked into getting unnecessary procedures that make them lifelong dependent on pharmaceuticals and further medical intervention.

There are good and bad results. Luckily I have lived 50 years without my uterus and have dealt with all the problems that come with it. It's a choice you have to make. I am not on any meds at all and in retrospect, I would do it again.
