I also include a BONUS FACT at the end regarding how IVIG may impact the COVID pandemic.
As always, if you have questions or comments drop them below and I'll make sure I respond.

Morning 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Apologies,honestly unable to tell you my IVIG doses . What I do know is that in 2015 when diagnosed with GBS,the dose I was given was totally unsatisfactory. Only had 4 days only . My last three Doses over the years has been Monday-Friday for three weeks. As off a month ago,a different knowledge from new Neurologist,he wants try different make ,higher doses,over longer periods. As From England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 I obviously NHS . Massive massive gratitude to all blood donors 🙏🏻❤️ Because of your time and dedication, I know this is liquid gold …Expensive

Morning! That's OK, the reason I mentioned the dose was that I was hoping (depending on the # of grams) it was divided sufficiently over enough days. The other reason is if your infusion rate was high (ie 280ml/hr etc) then that can cause headaches and nausea. M-F is a 5 day split which is normally just fine. Not sure if this was ever considered or feasible but subcutaneous IG sometimes provides more sustained coverage due to it's delivery method and absorption. And yes, blood donors are the unsung heroes for sure! D

Recently found your site and I really enjoy your presentations and I especially like your subtle humor as well as the visuals. Your discussion of IVIG really caught my attention. I started to post some personal information and a question, then decided I should not be posting this on the web. So just to let you know, you got me thinking.

Had my 5-hour infusion on Wednesday after a 5-month hiatus (imsurance). I had an aseptic meningitis attack a little more than 24 hours after the infusion began. It felt like I was giving birth to my brain. The only reason I didn't go to the ER was the thought of lights and explaining my situation to doctors. What can be done next time?

Hi Cathleen! I'm so incredibly sorry to hear you went through this...nothing worse than aseptic meningitis!!! That's the migraine that I'm referring to when I talk about it being "significant". My recommendations to prevent this are to hydrate really well about 48 hrs prior to your infusion and then continue until 24 hrs after last day (if multi day infusion), call your specialty pharmacy, speak with pharmacist and ask them to change your rate sheet to not exceed 120ml/hr or thereabouts. Not sure of your top rate but normally well above 200ml/hr after the final rate increase. Premeds can also be added (tramadol, solumedrol, benadryl etc). You can also request a bag of saline to be given pre and post dose (normally 250ml's before and the same after). This may help. Aseptic meningitis typically occurs when the Ig is titrated too quickly, or someone is dehydrated. Please feel free to email me directly if you have additional questions (danielle@lucid-med.com) Danielle

Hello mam Will you please tell me difference between Rituximab injection and ivig
@lucidmed3343
@lucidmed3343 11 ай бұрын
Hi Raja! Thanks for your question :) So IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) and rituximab are both medications used in the treatment of various immune-related conditions, but they have different mechanisms of action and are used for different purposes. IVIG is a pooled solution of antibodies used for immunomodulation and replacement therapy, while rituximab is a monoclonal antibody that specifically targets and depletes B cells, making it useful in the treatment of blood malignancies and some autoimmune disorders. I did a video just recently actually on Rituxan :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3OQaZqXrpedgbc Danielle
