THINKING ABOUT BUYING A SAWMILL? THIS IS A SMALL PART OF A TYPICAL DAY ON MY WOOD-MIZER LT35HD,

A typical day of saw-milling some White Oak and using the tractor to get ready for next weeks milling. Not everything always goes as planned. Have to wait on the tractor to move timber then family duties call and cut the day short. Still wouldn't have it any other way. Love my chosen profession.

For the Q&A: Have you considered adding the board return kit to your mill (or would you get it on a new mill)? That looks like it'd be a real back saver instead of reaching out over the log to move those heavy boards. Another awesome video and those are some prime fence boards!

Hi Jason, I’m up here in Montana and I cut mostly Doug fir and pine. I have a 35 hydraulic just like you do and now I am now wishing I would have got a 40 super hydraulic for the same size reasons you’re running into with big logs might have been easier. I would sure love to cut some of that White oak someday. If I have to put up with another winter like we had here last year I may be down there doing it.

OUT OF THE WOODS- I watch a lot of your videos, great job. I note that you usually work alone and wonder if you have ever considered 'adjusting' your mill so that you can, once you complete the cut, put you mill in reverse and send it back on its own? While it is going back you can do your off-loading, and the millhead will be waiting for you. When working alone this setup can yield a 10 to 20 % production efficiency. Of the many videos that I have watched, I have yet to see anyone utilizing this feature. TKSLEE

Since you are leaving the white oak on the mill for a few days do you cover it to keep the sun from drying it too fast and causing excess checking/splitting? I realize this log will be used for fencing so it doesn't really matter in this case but in general... I'm new to your channel but as a furniture builder I find it very interesting. Thank you for investing your time to enlighten us.

Out of the Woods My wife said I could use my divorce proceeds to purchase it. She took the fun right out of milling! So now I need tips on how to persuade the other half on these business adventures? Lol

@@bobvanarkel7583 Since it's been a while I thought maybe you've figured it out. Years ago my wife said the same thing. Now that she's agreed she says i'm too old. Now I just have to convince her i'm not. I kinda figure that's just an excuse.
