The great thing about cutting boards is that you can scrape them with salt to sanitise them and to resmooth the finish. Then was off and coat with minneral or cooking oil. Using them as cutting boards adds character without removing the finish. Also the board will outlast the life of the children whose signatures are on it.

I have seen this pattern in the past and this was the first time that I have seen a video for it. This is a great pattern and I wondered how it was made. It's definitely on my wishlist of cutting boards to make. Great job.

I love how to soft slightly matte finish really makes the black walnut pop. I also love the authenticity of the students names on the back. It’s a beautiful piece and I think it’s worth every cent it was auctioned for.
