@@xnikolasbs2230 Also, basically in permanent Thirty Years War crisis mode. The Fantasy element is a pretty big difference, though: For instance, the Empire of Man is polytheistic, with a fairly large contingent of priests who can work actual miracles. Religious strife often comes between cults of different gods and their different interpretations of the same god, but it's generally at once more stable and more fractious. Their scholastic establishment includes a large number of wizards, who... do a lot of research, on top of being wizards, but are also weird mystery cults. They have enemies on all sides who cannot be bargained with. Travel is much harder, because the woods are full of monsters - at the same time, they're larger, because, well, enemies on all sides who cannot be bargained with, helps to band together. These factors make them more diverse as well.

Fun fact, this era of warfare using pike, Calvary, and shot/guns was called pike and shot. The type of mechanism was matchlock, heavy and not that safe. Matchlock didn’t always have stands with them but usually did have stands. Pike was against calvary, calvary against shot, and shot against pike.

Man, the Puritans got away from Europe at an opportune time, stuff was rough on that side of the pond for so much of the 17th century (And if you think England wasn't that bad at the time, I refer you to The Great Plague of London and the Great Fire of London)

I think you guys are forgetting about the Anabaptists and Hussites who were also a very important protestant groups that just as the Calvinists faced persecution. I think it's a little harsh to forget to mention them when they suffered greatly for their beliefs and did good works.
@CollinBuckman3 жыл бұрын
The Hussites rose up nearly 2 centuries before, and what little had remained of them after the Hussite Wars was stamped out and driven underground by Ferdinand (the largest Brethren population at the time was a town in Poland near the border with Bohemia)
@GormTheElder3 жыл бұрын
@@CollinBuckman yeah, that's what I'm saying. This was a period in which hussites were forced to convert and were mass genocided.

The southern Netherlands werent part of the HRE after the transaction of Augsburg in 1548 and were after that defacto independant. After Karel V, the Netherlands were given to his son, Fillips II, who was Spanish Habsburg. So i believe that map of the HRE was wrong.
