The amount of detail Dragon Ball games contain is incredible. For example, did you know that in Budokai 2 Trucks' sword doesn't appear on his model unless you have a specific skill equipped?

I believe Zarbon's alternate costume is a reference to Vega (a.k.a. Balrog in Japan) from the Street Fighter series. Both Zarbon and Vega share a lot of importance for their personal appearance / beauty.

Its crazy to me that the game only follows the story up through Cell, but has a costume for Vegeta that is literally from the last episode of the series (almost 100 episodes later). Always thought it was a pretty cool Alt.

About the FighterZ joke in the end about the recolors, this actually has a reason The way ArcSystems make their 3D graphics is different, clothes and hair don't use physics, they are hand animated frame by frame together with the cell shading and the way their body streches in certain cinematics So they can't just replace with another model, they have to reanimate all the clothes, hair and cell shading, it's kinda surprising that Videl has another costume and and Super Broly loses his armor. Even Arcsystems main title now Guilty Gear Strive doesn't has alternative costumes for anyone, and they know that would sell a lot.

Also, even though those are not selectable costumes character attires in story battles are taken straight out of the manga/anime, some examples are Vegeta vs Final form frieza has the hole made by Krillin and Android 19 having Vegeta footprint on his face during their battle.

I feel like 17’s alt is a reference to something else although I don’t know what. His jacket at the end of Z was blue and in budokai 1 he’s wearing a brown jacket. He also has a different color pants and different shoes, did he ever wear something like this in the manga or promotional artwork? Or maybe the developers just wanted to give him some drip who knows

Forgive me if you already know this, but the way FighterZ is made is there reason why they have to do just recolours for costumes. The game is rendered in 3D but then each frame is gone over to make corrections/add additional things to give it a unique 2d/3d look. You can only do this in a game where the players have no control over the camera. So they can only do recolours cause if they did other kinds of costumes, that would mean it's a new render where they have to go through each frame again.
