Amazing video, thank you for featuring our GT86!
@shshh-fw9eh Жыл бұрын
Seems really well sorted and sounds amazing. I really think an UEL exhaust and a turbo is a must for the 86/BRZ, not just because it lacks power but it adds emotion to it. Just listen to it when you go off the gas, it sounds so addictive. A great job that I feel like replicating in the near future. A specsheet of it would be so much appreciated.

Quality build! I'd like one of these at 340 but after a completely sorted Whiteline 96 STI at 340 with AWD I just can't justify it :/ just like I can't an S2000. When I live somewhere drier I'll go S2000 with 500 Turbo stock block.

Seriously why Toyota didn’t do this is beyond me
@smilepermile81652 жыл бұрын
Because it would make the car more expensive and put people off with the idea of paying a lot with a 'Toyota badge'. Manufacturers want to have OEM levels of refinement and reliability so by adding a turbo, that requires a stronger transmission+clutch, beefier prop shaft, beefier drive shaft, more cooling and heavier piping so that it can do several laps at a track without heat soak issues. All this adds complexity and weight which is not what the 86 is about. The 86 is a car that teaches drivers about RWD car control within speed limits, its not meant for spec sheet enthusiasts who want to think that they're a good driver with a car thats fast on the straights.
@jdmguy442 жыл бұрын
Toyota deliberately kept the GT86 simple because they knew that a lot of them would be modified. The tuning scene for these in Japan and the US is huge. There's so much you can do to them.
@cerogravity8653 Жыл бұрын
Because the Supra exists, why would they have a car with dam near equal weight and specs the fact is we will never get a factory turbocharged GR 86 from Toyota unless they do away with the Supra, also people miss the intended purpose of the 86 it’s supposed to be an affordable sports car key word is affordable if they add turbos they will have to change the whole drivetrain of the car and that will drive up cost just buy one and turbo it or supercharge it yourself.

Dude the highest trim Supra only has like 320ish whp, why would they ruin sales of a car that’s alr not selling well by matching it with a car that’s only 2/3 the price?
@lemaga862 жыл бұрын
Just one question. How ? How fa20 can handle 340bhp on stock internals ? Sounds really sick. I'm thinking to build engine to get 300whp and you get 340 on stock. Anyway great project at same time!
@drive-r2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Running 340bhp on the FA20 is safe and ours has ran this for 8 years now. Its when you reach around 400bhp that the Rods can struggle. If you go above this then its advised to get forged rods. Drop us a follow on Instagram, would be great to follow your build!

@@Booka3141I agree with the comment. Supercharging keeps the essence of what they want with the car; instant power around corners and able to push the car to the limit daily. With a turbo it’s much harder to drive the car at its limit because you need to stay in higher rpms whereas superchargers give you that nice noise and linear power throughout the
