@ I bought my wife an 03 Durango new with 3 miles on it . We had it for 22 years and it was hers alone. Our kids have nicer vehicles than ours now. She didn’t want to get rid of the 22 year old Durango because it was in great shape for a Michigan ride but, she absolutely loves the 24 Bison! Small enough to wheel around in the city and Target parking lots but, just big enough to command road respect from the minivans and Wranglers during the commute. No more getting cut off by Karens. Didn’t mean to put down your Jeep there but there’s a lot around here. I really do hope that your wife likes it as much as we do. Great in the city, a marshmallow on the trails however, if your kids are 6’2”, tell them to get their own damn truck!! Lol!!

That's the first button I hit every time I start my new Gladiator. I've worked with engines enough to understand the constant start/stop cycles are not good for longevity. I agree, if you sell the car every few years it doesn't matter.
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 7 күн бұрын
Well, IMO it should matter: Think about the next owner (not just yourself) and do him/her a favor. I do. ;-) Not only less wear & tear on the truck for the next owner, but so far my auxiliary battery is holding up well, too (after 3.5 years of ownership) as that's not easy to access for replacement if it fails. But then I keep a de-sulfator hooked up to my main/aux batteries so that helps them last longer as well. Point is, I take care of my vehicles not only because I care about that for myself, but as a result the next owner gets a very nice/proven used vehicle...and any leftover (factory/OEM) extended warranty I can transfer over to him/her as well. -- BR
@Xandil
@Xandil 7 күн бұрын
@@billredding2000I hope to be that altruistic one day, but for now I don't care what happens with the car after I trade it in. I used to be that way with my motorcycles only to see them all get trashed soon after selling them, so I lost interest in caring about subsequent owners. My vehicles are well cared for, but it's not in the interest of resale or whoever owns them next.
@billredding2000
@billredding2000 7 күн бұрын
@@Xandil Well, as I said, it's in MY interest while I own/use it. The future owner benefits from it by default, that's all I was saying..and I feel good about that. Besides, a dealership will rip the next buyer off as much as they can...at least if they overpay (likely!) they're getting one of the best used vehicles available. Mine. ;-) "Jeep Wave" -- BR

I always turn mine off every time Istart the engine. Not only does that auto start/stop put additional wear and tear on your vehicle but the manufacturers built in an electronic limiter on the number of times your starter can operate. Every time your starter is used is counted and once that set number is reached the computer will throw a code and won't let you start the car until it is replaced, even if the starter is still functional. This number is in the hundreds of thousands, but if the engine is shutting off at every stop light that number will be reached much quicker.

Same truck minus the sunroof that you hate, the underbody camera which I skipped, and I didn't spring for the upgraded sound system. If you find a satisfactory way around the auto start feature with an aftermarket solution I would love to hear about it. I wish all the manufacturers if they're going to stick us with this stupid feature would at least go to a last setting used state for the button. Then that makes it a non-issue and then you can have it if you want it but not be annoyed every time if you don't. I agree with you it makes a negligible impact on emissions and almost no impact on gas mileage but it definitely puts wear and tear on the car. While you're at it I haven't really investigated the rear diff breather much on this car but according to some of the Colorado forums it might be a one-way valve. Curious if that's what you end up finding out and whether or not you put a breather kit on this

Hi Jason - congrats on the ZR2. Love it! I’m in the same boat as you all as I have a 2021 4Runner and I’m considering trading it in for the Colorado ZR2. Question, or maybe a possible future video, what is the difference in the ride on the highway and which would you say is more comfortable, from a ride comfort perspective on a road trip. I love the 4Runner and the interior space, but with the shorter wheel base compared to a truck, I’ve wondered if a truck would have a bit better ride in comparison. Hi Jason. What are your thoughts about if the Toyota dealerships will try to charge extra money for any Tacoma that is on their lots in December and try to say that they got it in January and they have to cover for the 200 percent terrif. If I remember correctly, the sticker in the door says when it was made but I don't know how to tell when it got delivered to the dealerships. Thank you for your time and knowledge. 😊@@Jason-Samko

Just installed an auto start/stop eliminator on my gladiator this weekend . The manufacturer says it’s ok for your vehicle but they give you button to disable . To me that screams that they know it’s not good for the car and the button to disable it is there so they are not paying out law suits 5 years from now .

So, I have to disagree with this. I’m not a fan of electrical Nannie’s, but: I bought a brand new 2015 BMW in late 2014. It came with auto start/stop. I currently have just under 172,000 miles on the car. It’s been my daily driver since day one, through stop and go traffic twice per day. I’ve never once had an engine issue with the car. I’ve replaced the battery, once. I’ve always maintained the car at the dealer. So the whole thing of all the oil instantly dropping into the oil pan, is BS. Ask any mechanic…

I too am so soured on Toyota that it was a factor in moving along and buying my new truck. There is no way constantly shutting down and turning my engine back on is good for it. I only hear non mechanical people try to tell me that. I've got news for those people, the government doesn't have your best interests in mind. I've done the math it saves almost no fuel and I cannot stand the lag when the light turns green. Hahahaha "life of the vehicle". What a BS statement! Soooo are you telling me you know exactly when this car is going to grenade itself? What mileage is it? Ok then I'm going to assume it is the powertrain warranty of 60,000 miles, get the #$%$ out of here!

My Ford truck has a manual process to turn off seatbelt chime: Before following the procedure, make sure that: * The parking brake is set. * The transmission is in park (P). * The ignition is off. * All vehicle doors are closed. * The driver seatbelt is unbuckled. 1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine. 2. Wait until the seatbelt warning light turns off (about one minute). You must complete Step 3 within 30 seconds after the seatbelt warning light turns off. 3. Buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt three (4 ?) times at a moderate speed, ending with the seatbelt in the unbuckled state. After Step 3, the seatbelt warning light turns on. 4. While the seatbelt warning light is on, buckle then unbuckle the seatbelt. After Step 4, the seatbelt warning light flashes for confirmation. * This will switch the feature off if it is currently on. * This will switch the feature on if it is currently off
