I remember getting into it with some weirdo after the EU mandated USB-C as a standardized charging port. I supported the decision because USB-C is a good and true(if confusing) standard, and many companies were dragging their feet sticking with the old standard micro USB. And there's that one company that loved their proprietary non standard. The person who took issue with my position said this government mandate would stifle innovation(that old chestnut). But as there was all that foot dragging, progress was already stifled which was my point in the first place. I never did get a direct response over how 80gbps(now 120mbps in a single direction) and 240w power was inadequate for phones and non-gaming laptops to the point that EU's pro-consumer mandate could be viewed as stifling innovation. 80gbps will still be fast enough to be usable even if some proprietary technology comes along to provide ludicrous speed to consumer-grade products. And as the debate was about the USB-C connector, it may be capable of even more going forward.

@@vadnegru yeah, i just wish Microsoft would do it with this tool. Its totally possible but will stop Microsoft's agenda of pushing of "its not for spying on you, we totally wont sneak in after a few years product placement and use some of your data for partners products" (like the start menu "Recommended" section that was totally not for advertising but really was all along). If they turn it into an app advertised for spying it stops the long goal of getting people used to it and then sneaking partner stuff in.
