If you are installing a rebuilt or reman trans, you should have the cooler flushed at a transmission shop that had a heated solvent air over hydraulic flush machine, designed to clean coolers, or just replace the radiator(if the trans cooler is inside of it). Cooler flush in a can dosen't work well when the previous trans had planet, bearing ,bushing or sprag failure where lots of metal debris is created. And the 6L80/90 are known in the industry as converter dumping, metal making machines.

I worked a brake shop in the 80's. We saved all the used pads and tossed the in a barrel that would get picked up weekly by a company that sold relined brake pads. The steel backing is the core. They just clean and repaint them and bond or rivet new pad material to them.

Its also logical. When I was a kid Imhad to take the empty cola, beer and fanta bottles back to the store, where I could hsve a small fee returned or trade in for new sodas. That model is still in use at the bars and pubs but that dissapear at home level with recyclabe glass in the early 90s. Some many car parts can be refurbished to a “new” state. Alternators are a nice example, the rewind the copper, the bearings and the diode. Case, shaft, pulley and conmutatores are checked and then, reused. It will save you a lot of money, plus the energy and chemicals involved y recycling the whole alternator is avoided altogether...

I went from an average of 14 mpg to 15.5. With the performance stuff I’ve done and what I plan on doing I want a transmission that will A. Live & B. Give me a wider range of gears. So I’m looking into putting in a 6l80e out of a later truck and physically it’ll fit ( with some tweakage of the mount and cross member) but what I’ve found out is that the controller is inside the trans, so anyone out there who knows if these transmissions can be swapped and controlled into earlier vehicles please hit me up

Since it came as an assembly from the re-builder it likely already had fluid in the convertor from the dyno/test cell most transmission re-builders run their units through. It even says it was dyno tested on their website.

We never do at my shop. Most converters come with some in it. And when we get a new trans to go in we don't pull the converter either just dump some new fluid in the pan (varies from 5quarts to 10 depending on truck) start it and finish filling the trans

Same trans I have in my h2. Can confirm. They're garbage. They couldn't have moved the exhaust literally 2 inches to get the pan off the trans without dismantling it?

We work around it aty shop. Pry bar against the subrame to push it down and pull the pan🤷♂️

I've gotten to the point where I can do a two wheel drive 4l60 in about an hour. That's out flushed and in. I also do transmissions for a living

Johnny is going to have to have you do transmission install in the future while he is doing a Engine rebuild

So excited for this update! Did the TC come pre-filled with fluid?

I didn’t see him prime the torque converter either. It is a common problem with installing new trans. I bet that’s how the new converter previously replaced got cooked.

It does... they run these on a transmission dyno as well. I’ve probably shown me pre-filling converters in 4 videos so I don’t know why anyone would question that 🍻

WatchJRGo I haven’t used them in the past so just wondering...sounds like a good deal with the warranty!
