It means that throughout his superhero life, he grew more sociopathic and uncaring about others. So I grew up as a preacher kid in rural Alabama. We didn't have a lot of money as a kid for Halloween costumes. So My mom got my a Bibleman costume one year and con me into wearing it every year as a kid, saying I'll be the coolest kid around if I wore it. I had the cape, mask, and crappy "light saber". Looking back it was a good child hood, but man those movies sucked. This brings back a LOT of memories, though.
