This Classic 3D Platformer Is Coming Back - Croc is Going HD!

I'm happy to see that Croc is getting a remake. I always like seeing the love and attention towards bringing back old IPs to a new generation of gamers like Ty The Tasmanian Tiger, Kao The Kangaroo, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro The Dragon, etc. As today there is a lot of potential in bringing back older IPs to a new generation gamers like Sly Cooper and Jak and Daxter as they were a huge part of childhood and I would love to see them brought back not only for me but for other new and old gamers as well.

Gotta love when the old game devs still show interest in their beloved colorful IPs, something not enough studios do. If Croc and Rayman are coming back, then so should Sly Cooper and Jak and Daxter.

Was it really successful? It got a bunch of mid scores and no one in the larger gaming community really mentioned it. Even most platforming oriented channels. Def wasn't a chart topper.

Oh, sweet! I always thought "Croc" had a bunch of charme to it. A bit clunky in terms of controls so if they can overhaul those it might be possible to become the definitive way to play the game (in case if they redo the first game. In my mind it would be way cool if Toys for Bob could get involved somehow. X3

I played Croc with the left Analog Stick and it was better than the D-pad. Overall, it was too difficult. Even though it was a great game for kids at the time. I hope we get 5:04 Croc 1 and Croc 2 all in one package. Especially with better controls. Plus, I would like to hear some Voice acting as far as dialoge goes.

Well I'm a big fan of Platformers so I would probably get it just to play it for fun I'm definitely familiar with one that but if it's anything like kao I'll like it for sure I grew up playing Platformers on PS2 so I tend to enjoy them a lot

I remember enjoying the Croc games on the first Playstation console. But I stopped playing them cause they were too hard for me. Anyway I can tell you the difference between a remake and a remaster. When a game is remastered, it has even better graphics, new details and different ways to play. Just like Crash and Spyro. Remakes are the same kind of game, but it's in an HD style and the same gameplay as the original. Like Ty the Tasmanian tiger and some of the trilogy remakes like Sly, Jak and Ratchet. So I think Croc is going to look the same but released on modern consoles. What do you think?

I feel it's the other way around. TY, Jak and Sly would be HD remasters. Crash, Spyro would be remakes, games rebuilt to look more modern. Croc I imagine is going that route. If we're talking about a huge overhaul in gameplay and story, I'd call that a reboot.

Vivi, if you didn't know, I used to play Croc: Legend of the Gobbos on the PC when I was very young, and I loved it. Now, 26 years later, it's good news to hear that Croc is coming back as an HD remaster now that the game has started early development as Jez San the former CEO and founder of the defunct Argonaut Games still owns the Croc IP. So with Croc: Legend of The Gobbos coming back as an HD remaster since achieving its commercial success back in 1997 I do hope Jez San will do the same for Croc 2 since the Croc 2 sequel that came out in 1999 never became a commercial success as the first game did two years earlier. But I possibly think Croc 2 definitely deserves a comeback as well. That's what I would like to see Vivi.

VIVI imagine having less Woden doors to load the level up wow that would change the game so much already every 4 steps is a wooden door and loading the next room so if the could only have them when it made sense or just build the level in a way where you don’t need any that would be so amazing also for the infamous dark areas/level where you can’t see anything proper lighting will transform this game.

I dislike almost every remake I get my hands on (there's good reason for that), but this one I'd actually be onboard with (even though I prefer the PS1 version of Medievil, Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, etc over their remakes). As old and simple as this game is, as long as the studio doesn't inject their political views in the game (which I've heard some indie devs have been doing) and they have the right resources, this should be base.
