They are selling to foreigners who then take them to people like Arthur Tussik here on YT.... They get repaired with varying quality and they are sold in 3rd world countries without disclosure. Plus, by importing them as wrecks/parts, they can often avoid massive import taxes on new/used cars, for further profit.

I suspect the reason for flipping some of these back to the auction is not purely to make money off the unsuspecting buyer but to recoup funds spent on a parts car, the motor and transmission is probably worth as much as the rest of the vehicle so I would be checking the engine number matches the VIN and hasn’t been swapped out. This would be the only way they could actually make enough money often enough for this kind of gamble to be profitable to do on a regular basis.

About the only thing salvageable would be the motor and transmission maybe a door to the roof skin Hood various other little knick knacks but if you find another Honda Civic that's got a blown engine and transmission at an auction then just slap this into the transmission in there and you got you something but other than that use the rest of it and recycle it

This would be a great car to buy if you had others that you were fixing up, just the little odds and ends alone would almost make it worth a bid or two but no where near the $5900. This would be a grab for $1500 to $2K for Scotts Honda Emporium for future Honda builds.

This car is missing some strange parts. I wonder if they were “not available” from the dealer at the time this car sold at the first auction. I’ve seen it a few times over the years, where cars have been totaled with very little damage, because no parts are yet available to repair them. This usually only happens in the case of a brand new model, and most often within the first 6-9 months of purchase. It does look, suspiciously, like the car was used as a “parts donor”, with all those pieces missing from the driver’s side….

Apropos nothing, but I'd like to point out the front left door is standing ajar in both the before and after pics. With the bashed in front left fender that goes into the door, I'd say that door is sprung, and possibly those hinges or that pillar took a hit as well and that door may not close.

I'm a novice, not planning to bid on any of these, I'm just curious. Once a person wins the bid, then goes to pickup the vehicle, is there a claus of refusal because the vehicle was miss represented? For instance, if a vehicle is advertised as a running unit but once you get there, the engine has a rod out the side. Another question, when are you going to continue the body swap on your mustang? No matter what the "experts" say, I love the work ethic you have. Keep going. I look forward to all your videos. I miss "What's in the console?" Whenever I worked on cars, there always were extra parts.😅

Scott, you didn't mention that the driver's door didn't look like it could close, even without the trim. Seems like there's more damage than meets the eye, there, too. Perhaps you could save the roof? And the drivetrain. Otherwise... yeah, not much there. Infotainment maybe.

That damage on the rear, would not be surprised if the extent of it goes much deeper and the structure of the unibody is compromised. I see the state of this car, and it screams parts donor, I think 3k to my door is tops I'd be willing to pay, and that is only if I had a good candidate needed the transplant (such as another very similar model, that say went through a short term flood and needs all the electronics, wiring, engine and transmission replaced). Even then... its a gamble as I am sure this never got to a drivable state. Maybe at most start/run. Lot runner would be pushing it (depends on driver front wheel exact damage). You'd still be dragging that rear passenger wheel, probably tack welded for better photo appeal LOL. Hate to say it, but FL, not surprised to see such a mock up makeup pig.
