In 11th grade i wore a Warren G t-shirt to school. A metalhead in my class started calling me Warren G and the name stuck on me for the next two years. Friends shortened it to G, kids who didn’t really know me actually thought my name was Warren by my senior year. Id recommend Nate Dogg feat. Warren G “Nobody does it better”

Warren G was instrumental in the g-funk sound of the early 90’s. His First album is called “Regulate - The G-funk era” or something like that

Warren G is a producer too, a lot of the beats back then were done by Dre, Warren G and Daz and Dre got credit for them until their names were more out there.

Dr. Dre's sound was called "G-Funk" in the 1990's because he was listening to "P-Funk" and made his version of it. Warren G, his brother, made his version of "G-Funk" as well. That was the southern California "West Coast" sound in the 90's.

On y'all reaction to "La di da di" you were talking about rapper's referencing the past rappers and Warren G actually does that here, with the lyric " Cause I don't like to dream about getting paid" is a reference to Eric B and Rakim "Paid in full" and might be a good segue to get into some of their stuff

Warren G, Snoop Dogg and the late Nate Dogg were known as 213. 3 dudes from 21st Lewis Street. They also have a group Album where they go by 213. That's why they sound the way they do, it's their thing.

The group Above The Law is the true creators of the G Funk sound...Check out and react to "Black Superman" from Above The Law...That's possibly the best g funk beat of all time...Also they were signed to Ruthless Records with Eazy E...
@thereallyst4 жыл бұрын
G Funk stands for "Gangsta Funk" and it's a sub-genre coming from the West Coast. They were heavily influenced by the 70s sound taking heavily from groups like Parliament. Their sound you can hear has a bunch of synthesized sounds like the funky worm etc... AND I watched Hoop Dreams a LONG TIME AGO, lol

Jill is right. Gfunk is a sound invented in California. Check out the documentary by the same name. Believe it or not these tunes used to come out on wax and were sold at record stores which are now extinct.

G FUNK was taken from P FUNK which derived from a group called Parliament (George Clinton) in the 70's. The origin of G FUNK comes from Tupac Shakur in a song from the Originators of the GFUNK sound, Cold187um from ABOVE THE LAW (ATL) and Laylaw. The song was called "CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT" 187um studied under Dr. Dre. and Warren G used to hang around as the little brother and hung around 187um.

G-Funk just stands for Gangsta Funk. Made popular by Dre and Warren G, but pretty prominent throughout the 90s by other artists. Basically, it's gangsta rap over beats inspired by 70s and 80s funk. But that high-pitched synth in this song was more of Dre and Warren G's signature. I think others have mentioned it, but I recommend Nobody Does It Better by Warren and Nate. There's even a version on youtube that uses the original song (no censoring!) and puts it over the official video. There's also a Slick Rick song that was remixed by Warren G, so there's a little crossover for both of the videos today. It's called Behind Bars (Dum Ditty Mix) w/ Warren G. Pretty good song.

Can GFunk song sit a this DJ table ? This song introduced me to gfunk, gangsta rap and west coast flavored rap and so. I've been listening to many many many gfunk songs, famous and underground but this DJ remains to me the best. I'll never get bored listening. I discover it when I was 8 or 9. I'm 35 today and it still like it like the first time I listened to it.

Do some Cypress Hill, doesn't really matter what song because I'd watch if it was any of their songs. I guess start with Insane in the Brain since it's probably their most known song. Also do more Bone Thugs, I've seen others say it already but do The Cypher. Should do Flow Motion too, there's two versions of that song and while I prefer the original you should still do both.
