I taught myself watching a lady at my mom's doctor appointment, I was trying to learn knitting so I borrowed a hook. The rest is history & I have never seen anyone use a latch hook on these tough loopy stitches so thank you for that!

Awesome. We call this: Punto Gusanito. It was easier for me using 2 hooks, the smaller for pulling through. But the needle hack is great.

A very different type of stitch. I have never heard of a Bullion Stitch. It's very clever how you found a few methods to make it easier. Nicely explained, Roz.😄❤

Thank you ! I’ve been studying free form crochet all summer and this is a popular stitch in that style. There are also variations of the bullion that are much easier to do with a crochet hook that are used more often in blankets - I’ll share in future how to do those as well because they are so pretty 👍🏻💕😀

I'm just a few seconds in to the video and I can say if you were going to stay with your crochet hook, you would first need to make sure your using a good yarn. I've used yarns where I've scraped the project and started over until I got different yarn because it untwists. You fight with it constantly with any stitch. This is a GREAT hack!!!!!! Can't wait to try it !!!!

Thank you I do have a rug hook but I also have the double pointed needle and that looks like my first choice. I like how you think and your teaching is clear. So I know almost exactly nothing about crocheting. I just came across this video because I was trying to figure out what the weird latched stick that came with my SpeedWeve is for. Knowing, as mentioned, nothing about crocheting, I feel like I could do this stitch now just from these instructions. Could you use a Tunisian crochet hook or a double ended crochet hook because they have a nice round barrel?

Heck yeah, great idea . The Tunisian crochet hook would be great - the double ended crochet hook might be more tricky since the yarn might catch on it as you’re sliding them over ❤️

I don't find the bullion hard. I wrap very loosely--virtually no tension on the yarn. After I yarn over to start pulling through, I completely drop the yarn. No tensions AT ALL. Instead, I use my now-free left hand to pinch the loops around the hook, holding them in place so that they cannot shift apart or shrink down. They're pinched into one little bundle between my thumb and index so they don't move. Then give the hook a little twist so it points down and it will slide right through.
