Alex I hope my comment in your previous video about the missing neutral helped you fix the issue. Glad to hear your place is all back to normal. Hopefully your electrician reimbursed you for whatever damage his error caused. Not seeing the bonding bridge that connects both neutral/ground bars together in the main panel is a rookie move on the electrian's part. That could have caused some serious damage to any other electronics that were plugged in. Without a neutral, you're basically sending 120+ unregulated volts to whatever is plugged in. If you ever have any questions when it comes to electrical, let me know. The CDI looks great so far too. You actually got me to start looking for one in my area. They seem like great cars.

I took my S500 to local Benz dealer for a Pre Purchase Inspection. Wanting to find out anything that needed maintenance. I knew the tail lights were not working, NO electricity back there. They first gave a checklist page where each thing gets a check mark for working well. Tail lights? Check. They also STOLE MY FLOOR MATS and replaced them with worn out ones, I could tell because they were the wrong color, they were dirty, and they were scrunched (creased) permanently where the previous owner had moved their seat forward causing a permanent crease where the driver's heel touches the floor. I made the dealership replace the floor mats because the ones I had, were immaculate and lent the car an added feeling of luxury, now these were garbage! Then I addressed the tail lights issue. They said, "You need a trunk wiring harness ($873) plus labor and followed by further troubleshooting." Meaning, trunk wiring harness will NOT fix the tail lights. Did my own research and learned there is a SAM (signal acquisition module) under the back seat and that may be the problem. Bought one of those on eBay for $150 from a seller with thousands of all good reviews, replaced it myself, and VOILA. all fixed.... Perfect. I trust NO dealer. Anywhere.

So, a real crappy job was done on the AMG. The one thing I don't hear in all of this is: COULD it be possible that the tech rang the owner and the owner said: just weld it? But, in that case, I would SPECIFICALLY state it on the invoice! I would explain the whole situation on it and wave ALL warranty on these specific jobs. Having that said: it's NO WAY possible that a dealership would fit aftermarket stuff AND do such a lousy job with the gasket material. So, I do get the feeling the tech just did a sloppy job... Very sorry to hear that...

normally I love your videos but you are way off the mark with this one.. You specifically said the owner asked to fit NG parts.. owner is liable, not mercedes.. For the lifters to have fucked up the top end was obviously starved of oil prior to the dealer seeing it so to say it was their doing is speculative at best. A technician, workshop forman, road tester and lastly advisor would never sign off on anyone welding a crank. I bet me left nut the owner was well informed of its lack of service history prior to offloading a ticking timebomb to an unsuspecting owner
@stijepozupanovic72255 жыл бұрын
As the technician in my own mercedes service with long time of experience with amg engines and brabus engines this usually happens due to o-ring in oil collector which causes cut off oil supply and then causes first seizure of piston or pistons in on or more cylinder liners and then result is broken (snapped) connecting rod and total failure of engine,anyway these engines (m113 4,3 ;5,0;5,4l;5,4 supercharged,m155slr and mclaren 722 super edition and many more later on did not have oil pressure sensor and then no pressure indication on the dashboard,so basically the drivers were not able to stop car on time when this occurs,they stop car when was too late when the hear bad noise from engine (I am talking about blew engine in this video,so to avoid headaches do not buy amg specially new ones,except if you do not have a lot of money,and regarding the cdi engines v6 and v8 they have same issue ,so since then we were trying to install a new upgraded o-rings but still after some time this happen again due to high temperatures and detorioration of rubber o-ring,also i notice in this video when this man show blew engine i notice the worn camshafts which are common problems of all amg engines older or newer,so i hope somebody to save a lot of money and that they have time to sell their amg mercs on time.
@b.snoodleman58645 жыл бұрын
The photos of the camshaft indicate massive damage to the bearings journals. The problem had nothing to do with the cam sprocket falling off. The cam sprocket had the bolts sheared off after the cam had locked up. The sprocket wasn't the problem but was a result off the cam lock up problem. More than likely the timing chain is what caused the engine to lock up. That is pretty basic stuff?

Hi, I realise this is an old video but the cam pulley would have broke off due to oil starvation probably caused by the gasket material on the pick up pipe, that’s why there is material build up on the cam. Crank is shocking lol. On a note of caution these engines are prone to being run low on oil due to no dip stick and lazy/faulty electronic metering system. Cool channel

A friend of mine always says, dont trust the dealership for repairs, half the time they don't know what they're doing. Our coworker's daughter took her Hyundai Sonata to the dealer for regular scheduled service. She left the dealer and noticed her check engine light was on 2 blocks down the road. She pulled over immediately and shut the car off, walked back to the dealership and they told her to call a tow truck and have it towed back. Long story short, they drained her transmission fluid and forgot to refill it with new fluid.

One detail wrong in this video. Dealer techs are not the best. 95% of dealer technicians are the bottom of the barrel when it comes to understanding and working on vehicles. Then leave the headlight out in the sun but this time leaving the dust covers off and facing down for residue of the isopropyl can leak out. Make sure 100% there’s no isopropyl left in the headlight when putting bulbs back in and using.

Save the money for headlight restoration. I got mine done 3 x by a professional. Each time 4-6 months later they turned yellow again. What most don’t understand is the yellowing is not all of what causes the light to dim to the point where you can’t see anything anymore. Heat makes the lenses and reflectors dull. And that is far worse than the yellow coating of the cover. I spend $1100 and bought 2 brand new Bi-Xenon headlights directly from MB and replaced them and on top of it I applied 3M UV film to really keep the sun from yellowing them and gravel and dust from cars in front from ruining them. Never would I restore headlights again. NOT WORTH THE MONEY, professionally done or DIY with restoration kits from the store. Last but not least, most states within the US and many countries make it illegal to restore the headlights. Just look up your law about this if you care to drive a street legal car. It matters when it comes to an accident. The comparison is like day and night.
