Shoutout to Andrew! He is the one who discovered this ヾ(≧▽≦*)o Also clarification: When you find the spawner, you can find 0 to 5 of them. If all the surrounding blocks are air [AND] water, you will get 5, if there are only 4 surrounding blocks, you'll get 4. etc.

Yeah, that's why I clarified that only air blocks get replaced. When I did my first editing pass, I didn't have that note in there. Glad I included it.

@@marranin007 sad thing is: the block needs to have the ability to make nbt data itself Like Furnaces(items) or Lecterns(text data), command blocks(text data) etc... Since spawners can have nbt data (to store mobs to spawn) they can store chest nbt and that's how it worked. So this means you can store chest nbt in a lectern anytime

Wow. This is one of the first Minecraft videos in a very long time to legitimately amaze me with complexity. The fact that such incredible things are still to be discovered about this game is just mind blowing. When the hopper picked items up from a mob spawner i couldn’t believe my eyes! While a lot of the videos on the channel use mods or nbt editing to showcase the extremes where the game breaks (which are still super interesting, don’t get me wrong), having something like this occur in *completely unmodified vanilla Minecraft* is just bizarre. Games like Minecraft feel ‘static’ in a certain sense. It’s easy to think “someone out there understands the code perfectly”, and so nothing can really be new or undiscovered (other than edge cases and new ways of exploiting the understood features). This - however - completely shatters that perception. Pretty cool if you ask me!

So years ago on PS4 Edition (Legacy), an update occurred and converted one of my blaze spawners into a wither Skeleton spawner, I was somewhat annoyed that I’d lost my blaze farm but kinda glad I could AFK Wither Skeletons now. A later update changed it again to a regular Skeleton spawner (in the nether) and made me sad, I believe it should still be a skeleton spawner if I still have that save file

This would make a crazy mob farm. 1 spawner spawns 4 pigs every 10-39.95 seconds, or 360.45-1,440 pigs per hour. Each pig drops 1-3 pork and 1-3 xp when killed by the player. This means that you would get 360.45- 4,320 pork per hour and 360.45-4,320 xp per hour. And thats just from 1 spawner. From 5 spawners, you would get 1,802.25-21,600 pork per hour and 1,802.25-21,600 xp per hour

Thats about 28-337.5 stacks of pork per hour. Each chest has 27 slots and each double chest has 54 slots. 337.5 stacks of pork would fill 6.25 double chests per hour. Thats insane.

The fact that the chest doesn't work because of the wrong set of data also reminds me of a fun little mod I use called Origins. I was looking in the commands to see different origins to choose from, and there is actually a missing origin, which doesn't have any positive or negative powers. For some reason, things like losing health and /kill do not work, but you can still lose hunger. It confuses me that you can get hungry, but you cannot die or have any potion effects applied to you. Kinda like how the chest doesn't have the data required to function as a chest, but can be combined to _look_ like a double chest.

I have 2 pig spawners which didn't generate due to either of these circumstances. Pretty sure it happended through some bugs in between version updates. They used to be empty when I first found them years ago, both were part of some regular looking dungeons. When I checked on them some time (and Updates) later, they have turned into pig spawners

On beta 1.6.6 every time I build a house there's at least four to five mob spawners underneath me and sometimes they spawn within one another causing a glitch where they'll be a double chest a single chest off to the side and two spawners in the center of the room along with a stack and 32 mossy cobblestone or at least close to that amount X3

Minecraft modder here: the reason that the mobspawner has items in it is because the block has been replaced but it's (Tile)Entity has not, so the (Tile)Entity of the Chest is still present at the location.(Chests, furnace,Hopper etc. have an entity when placed called TileEntity) With this information, you should be in theory be able to also put items in the mobspawner with a Hopper but that is something we need to test....
