As far as I can see, kayaking in California is still technically legal (depending on your local regulations) but you need to take extreme precautions in order to stay safe and ensure the safety of others. Every situation is different so its a case by case scenario

Great job on sending that ling back, I caught one just above 22 inches. Gutted, cleaned, and had it out of tester for about 6 hours just to come in and have fish and game issue me a $500 ticket because it shrunk. Just a word of advice to people out there, if they’re just at limit then send em back.

Love fishing squid, usually don’t have to let them eat it, it’s typically a instant hook set. Everything in the ocean loves that squid! All fishing shut down in San Diego County, your pretty lucky you can fish still. Great video as usual!

Halibut are hard to catch. They are lazy and you basically need to drop the bait on there head to get them to bite and it’s hard to see all the way to the bottom. The 3 hours that you spent may have been when the tide was going in or out. They will get more active and feed in the slack tide. Nice fish. I’ve pulled a lot of them out of Monterey and San Francisco Bay. The best bait for Ling is squid, they love squid.
