Tom Jones & Elvis were very good friends, & Elvis would invite Tom to spend time with him, his family & friends on vacation in Hawaii & they would have a great time. Tom really admired Elvis & in an interview he talked of the first time they met, when Elvis was filming Viva Las Vegas with the beautiful Ann Margaret. Tom said when Elvis finished the scene he walked across the stage to Tom, & asked him where the hell he got his voice from & the two of them got on so well, that Tom said he was amazed at how quickly they became good friends, & how friendly a superstar like Elvis was with a not very well known singer from Wales. Their close friendship lasted right up until Elvis’ death in August 1977.

This clip is from the “This is Tom Jones” variety show. (1969-1971) BITD you had to be a huge star to get your own show on network TV.

The music playing in the house when you're a child stays with you forever. Thankfully Mum was a fan of the Tijuana Brass and a huge fan of Tom Jones. She bragged about knocking someone down to catch the bow tie Tom threw to the audience. I'll never forget the look on her face when she heard him singing the intro to Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century.

Great reaction. Always love seeing Sam dancing. Tom Jones is the real deal. He can sing anything: country, rock (IMHO, he is one of the most underrated rock and roll singers in the entire history of rock!), blues, soul, American Song Book standards, you name it. One of the greatest singers ever. Thanks for doing this and sharing it. Footnote: as others have noted, this was from his tv show! Yes, he actually had his own tv show. That’s how popular he was at that time.

I would love to see Tom try those moves now! For more cheeky Tom "What's New Pussycat?" is a must. "It's Not Unusual" and "The Green Green Grass of Home" are amongst his classics to check out

There was more women’s underwear on the stage at a Tom Jones concert than at a Vanity Fair outlet! Tom was putting it out there!

It was because of all his amazing, energetic dancing, that he had to have two hip surgeries (replacements?) later in his life. I hated to read that but boy, could he move...and sing! And, just like Elvis, the network wouldn't show his hips! On his own show! Lol I also loved how he didn't seem to take himself too seriously...like Sam said, he just loved engaging his audience! Can't get enough of Sir Tom! 💜

What a blast from the past!! I remember swooning in front of the TV once a week to the sexiest singer around. And I was so jealous of the women who got kisses and attention on the sidelines!! Oh yeah, and he was a great singer!

Sir Tom is still very much around and been on tour recently, he's now 84, saying he was sounds like he's no longer working, trust me he is and won't stop, not even having two new hips at different times has stopped him. Oh and he and Elvis were great friends. He enjoys what he does and for two years he was confined too his bedroom with TB for two years, so when you think what that might have done to his lungs he can certainly still hold a note and he was also married to Lady Linda by the time of this show they married at 16 and have a son Mark who's now his dad's manager and has been since the 1980's unfortunately Lady Linda passed away around 2016/17 in hospital

What makes Tom Jones great for me is the original time period in which he became famous i.e. the late fifties through the 60s and some of the 70s. When he sings in the 90s and 2000s even though his voice is good I don't like him as much. Again, it's the time period of his original success, a time period that makes it a different world. And that's what I like. That different world and feeling back when he broke on into the scene with that wonderful voice.

Hi Guys greetings from England 🇬🇧 Tom Jones was a real Ladies man and back in the day he was a sex symbol and famous for his moves!!! When Tom was on Stage Ladies in the audience would throw there knickers onto the stage during his performance. Tom Jones is now in his 80s and still performing and touring the world 🌎 and his voice gets better with age. Tom was knighted by a The Quern and he is now Sir Tom Jones and you should check out Tom in his later years and his song SEX BOMB 💣 which is a great song.

If Sir Tom tried to dance like that today, he'd probably kill himself 🤣 This is a classic from his hey-day but although his moves haven't exactly dated well, it's a great song and I love it. (By the way, maybe you guys could one day check out Bruce Springsteens live version of this song where a lovely lady got up and joined him on stage and danced along, it's brilliant). Many thanks you guys. 🙋♂ 🙋♂
