yes it was amazing how such a small movement eased the pain in my lower back and released the tightness in hips. Thank you!! In the video it looks as though your upper leg actually lifts off the lower leg - does it, or is it just look like that?

Thank you! This is perfect. My right hip has been painful and restricted. It's connected to the knee, ankle, and foot, too. Luckily, it's feeling better better today but I definitely need more healthy movement in that hip!

Did you try these exercises and did they offer some relief when walking after? I love how Feldenkrais always adds the "observing" time afterwards so you can really register the difference.

thank you Taro for this video. I have issues with my left hip. I felt good for both of them to move in these exercises. The thing I did notice was neck pain on the side of neck on whichever hip side was up and being worked. very interesting

was your neck supported well with a pillow/cushion/blanket? It's also common that people habitually increase effort in their neck while moving other parts of their body. I would suggest you make sure to support your head and neck well and reduce effort and size of hip movements and speed by 50% next week. Small and slow movements will do a trick!

@@TaroIwamoto yes it changed the quality of my walking. I like the suggestions regarding when I do it again. I was using a pillow for support for my head/neck, though I can relate to "habitually increase effort in neck while moving other parts of body"Thank you so much for sharing all your wisdom and videos!

Thank you for sharing this video. I do find excellent release of lower back and hip pain/ strain. Also in the quality of walking. Like to know will this exercise correct scoliosis condition?. Thank you very much for your short and highly effective exercises.

Did you notice that one side felt more "sticky" with resistance than the other? Consider spending a little more time and focus on that side to even out the imbalances caused by your Scoli.

Some part of this video is similiar to your one of old uploaded video. Great video sir!!!! Sir i am unable to perform long sit position ( both leg spread out and entire torso and pelvis is at 90 degree to leg), i was bed rest for 5 months. Which muscles are tight? Can you tell me apart from my back , because i know i have tight back.

Yes, I'm redoing a few of my old vides per viewers request due to low audio level. Long sitting or straddle sitting position in a neutral pelvic position requires adequate hamstrings length and hip flexion. If your hamstrings are short/tight and/or you don't have adequate hip flexion, your pelvic has no choice but rolls backwards and rounds lumbar spine. My 10 day hamstring mobility challenge exericses (in any order) can be helpful for you.

Taro, i need to clarify the last 2 movements on your video clip. Is it moving the hip forward, upward, backward, downward then next movement is it backward, downward, forward, upward? Thanks in advance!

sounds like you are describing the same movement, circle, no? First, move pelvis up, down, forward, back, then circles.

It doesn’t hurt or pinch my nerves when I roll forward and backward; however, my nerves tingle when I move up and down. What is the reason for that? Thank you.

Thank you for this. It's awesome! QUESTION: My calves are super tight, almost to the point of going into a hard, painful cramp. Do you have any videos to release tight calves? I've been looking and haven't found any yet.

@Feldenkrais with Taro Iwamoto No, I don't wear high heels anymore. This usually happens when I walk long distances, but today, it was caused by working out on my rebounder.

@@shellie4462 i see. what were you doing on the rebounder? Activities on a rebounder definitely places more demands on claves. The reason why i asked about your walking and standing patterns is people who habitually stand with more weight on front of feet use calves to support their weight and propel

My calves are always tight, I think they need to be lengthened like how you have videos to lengthen the hamstrings. Today I think the Jamba run caused the pain. It is where you do a squat with legs apart and kind of run in place without lifting the feet.

I am not sure I understood what was happening especially in the first movement. Is the one coming up of the floor or other one as you roll back slightly?

simply roll your top pelvis forward and backward directions, or turning pevlis left-right (same thing). the bottom pelvis should not come up of the floor, just rolling on the floor.

It is difficult to isolate the movement. Takes a lot of thought.

this is actually not isolated movement but more integrated movement, meaning you allow other parts to move with pelvis
