Foreigner's first three albums were basically hard rock, the 4th album (called " 4 "), the music started becoming more ballad oriented

I think you're forgetting how many ballads Foreigner had on their first two albums - "Woman Oh Woman", "At War With the World", "Fool For You Anyway" all of which are from the first album alone. From "Double Vision", you have "You're All I Am", "Back Where You Belong" and "I Have Waited So Long". The "Head Games" album rocked pretty much throughout. Foreigner "4" had "Waiting For A Girl Like You" and "Girl On The Moon". All of the rest, while not all rockers, were at least mid-tempo song that you would not find on Adult Contemporary radio stations.

Finally!!!! The Greatest Bluesy Foreigner Song Ever!!! It's A Heavy Pandora's Box of Lyrical Genius!!! The Blistering Memories of Another Janky Soul-Less Sista Gone Wrong! Those Heavy Riffs Are On Full Display With Most Of Foreigner's 70's Sound!!

Heh, this was one of the first 45 rpm records I bought as a kid. This is from their second album, titled Double Vision. "Double Vision" and "Hot Blooded" were the other two singles. Both of them are hard rock bangers that ruled the radio for months. The singles from their first album got a lot of radio play too -- "Cold As Ice", "Feels Like the First Time", "Long, Long Way from Home", even "Starrider", what you might call their obligatory seventies space epic.

This whole album is fantastic, and this song is one of my faves from it! I had been hearing singles that I liked from it, so I bought it the day it came out and then played the hell out of it for years. Nice reaction!

this is the first foreigner song i remember hearing on the radio in '78. i knew immediately i was going to love them. for good reason. 25 years old at the time with my life in front of me. now i can barely even see it in my rear view !

Loved your reaction, Harri...Foreigner is a "rock and roll" band!! Months back when I first joined I requested Foreigner's "Waiting For A Girl Like You" and "Dirty White Boy". I loved your reaction to both but especially Dirty White Boy as you were convinced Foreigner was a ballad band.Greybeard commented, was complimentary of my selections and mentioned that Blue Morning, Blue Day was a favorite of his. So, I was hoping down the road that I would request it before someone else and be able to dedicate it to Greybeard. I hope he's out there watching.

That was very kind of you Neal ! When I was back in college, I had an album by Poco, and the best song was Crazy Eyes. In dorms, people don't return things..lol ! I searched everywhere for it in every "big book" and it said the album didn't exist! When I started my channel on here, I found it posted by somebody named "greybeard," so, of course I thought I would never meet the person, and here we are ! Even way back then, I knew he had to be a cool person to have that great song! He and I both loved Emerson, Lake & Palmer (collectively and individually), even after Keith Emerson died. So, kudos to you for your dedication! ✌💫

@@User_gin_927untileternity Thank you...I first remember Poco in the late 70's and their single, "Crazy Love". Had never heard of "Crazy Eyes" or the album of the same name until I saw your comment. Sitting here reading about Poco and their history. I knew Eagles' bassist, Timothy B. Schmidt, was a former member of Poco but I wasn't aware that the Eagles' original bassist, Randy Meisner, was also a former member. Listening to Crazy Eyes for the first time as I type. That's a cool story how you crossed paths with Greybeard not once but twice. He's a classy guy - a good guy, and I was pleased to get to suggest Blue Morning, Blue Day for him.

@@pncombies I do the same, like to go back and find connections of band members to other bands way back when! Listened to Greg Lake when he was in King Crimson, and then Carl Palmer moved on to the band Asia, and Steve Howe (in Asia) was in the band Yes! Fun to get the history!

Foreigner is great. They could roll out a ballad, bang out a hard rocking tune, or get a bit more theatrical like with this song.

Harri, virtually every tune off the first two Foreigner albums are great. Starrider and Headknocker are two songs that get little to no airplay but they are superb.

This was the B side to "I Have Waited So Long". Blue was a metaphor for misery in this song. They repeated the same guitar and keyboards sounds that were successful in "Cold as Ice". Lots more Foreigner to explore.Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and pnCombie for another great trip back down the road. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
