@JessicaHauserman
@JessicaHauserman 11 ай бұрын
I actually don't entirely agree with this. Jaclyn has clearly made mistakes, but the real common denominator here is Morphe/Linda. I'd like to see Morphe get a little more heat. Jaclyn has been taking the grunt of it all and yes she herself has made mistakes and she is a grown adult and has made decisions both professionally and business-minded, but I truly think Morphe jumped all over Jaclyn and tried to get her to do things. Honestly I just want to see Morphe's side of things and I don't understand why more people aren't calling Morphe out. If all this information is true, Morphe was there for all of it (and I'm sure Jaclyn told Linda/Morphe EVERYTHING) and I want to know what Morphe's take on it all is.

It’s sad bc if she made a video admitting to all her lies and mistakes… people would treat her like she was the second coming of Christ and forgive her like that and she still chooses to deflect and whine “I didn’t do anything wrong and if I did I wasn’t aware of it!!!”.
@belle.m
@belle.m 11 ай бұрын
@@JessicaHausermanI agree , i think Morphe did a lot here, but I also think Jaclyn was making decisions based on money and clout, and lying about things is not a way to deal with bad decisions. She should have just been honest with Marlena and told her she wanted to work with MG but she was already under contracts, so maybe collab later. Everyone knows Jaclyn is poison now, two makeup brands have gone down because of her, her own brand is drama, and she steals ideas off smaller brands. She’s toxic
@handsoaphandsoap
@handsoaphandsoap 11 ай бұрын
@@JessicaHauserman While I don't disagree that Morphe is a problematic company whose history is riddled with controversy, I don't think they can be blamed for this situation. Jaclyn was the one who overbooked herself and screwed over Marlena (though I will say, Marlena should never have begun production on anything until she had Jaclyn under a contract, that was irresponsible of her) and Jaclyn is entirely responsible for her part in the entirety of the Gerard Cosmetics scandal, you can't put that on Morphe/Linda when Jaclyn was the one to break ties with Gerard and she was the one who demanded money from them despite them already having met her other demands of having her face and name taken off the products, and she's the one who went on to publicly slander the brand and attempt to sabotage their business. On top of that, every other scandal unrelated to these two are also her responsibility. She blames the factory for the lipstick situation when it's her negligence of not properly scouting the manufacturer that is going to be producing the makeup she's putting her name on, she does a little revisionist history by blaming Becca for the subpar quality of her eyeshadow palette collab where before she claimed to have been an active participant in its creation, etc. etc. It doesn't really matter what Morphe is doing behind the scenes, Jaclyn is a full grown adult who has full agency in her decisions and she made the decisions she made. She could've owned up to her mistakes and apologized but she instead did what she always does, diverted blame and minimized her own part.

Yes! THIS! Linda and Morphe are the common denominator here, not Jaclyn. Jaclyn should be getting heat, but I feel like nobody is talking about the wrong things Linda and Morphe has done. I truly do believe Linda/Morphe took advantage of Jaclyn (and other influencers) and I think Jaclyn didn't even realize it. Jaclyn is always talking about how great and friendly Linda is, but like... hello? Are you not seeing what they have done to your career? Not to say Jaclyn shouldn't be held accoutable for a lot of it, but nobody is deep diving into Morphe... Morphe should be the next egg to crack open. Manny too, but that's a whole nother mess that probably won't happen. After the Jeffree thing, I don't see Manny inserting himself into this, and even if people start talking about his involvement, he's not going to say anything because he knows that will open a new can of worms that he does not want opened. The thing is, if everything was agreed upon in writing, that is still a contract. And even WITH an official signed contract, legal action would have been necessary. Jaclyn clearly knows that in general smaller independent brands just don't have the means to take legal action, and she takes FULL advantage of that. The person that vile woman hurt, gaslit & stole the most from was an innocent, kind, trusting, funny, gentle, loving, grateful, handsome & beyond talented musician named Jon Hill…He was the complete opposite of what Jaclyn is, she chewed him up for years telling him he wasn’t good enough, making a fool out of him & exposing him to her millions of rabid fans, then spits him out in his darkest hours while simultaneously hooking up with the guy he hired to film his music videos in their marital home! Jon was depressed, lost, lonely & all alone when he tragically passed away on a dirty sidewalk in LA where the coroner ruled the cause as a drug overdose but anyone that knew him knows he died years earlier from an inordinate amount of stress, chronic manipulation, berated for his lack of business knowledge thus having no desire to play into “keeping up w/the Jones’s”, demeaned for his charming qualities that originally caused her to fall in love w/him…Jaclyn laughingly counted the money while Jon was dying from having his heart callously shattered & repeatedly stomped on by the one person he trusted & truly loved, for all the world to see! I usually dislike when the word "narcissist" is tossed around. However, as someone with PhD in Psychology and having worked with a few clients that were already diagnosed as narcissistic, J fits it 100%. There isn't any effective treatment for a narcissistic diagnosis. They're in their own head regardless of what's said to them, regardless of the consequences of their behavior. They feel they're misunderstood and also a victim. So, no, she'll never hold herself accountable. Furthermore, she's a pathological liar and delusional, she believes her own lies.

As someone who has been diagnosed variously w/ ASPD & NPD, someone who has come a long way in effectively curbing my shitty tendencies to cultivate a fuller life... It's kind of upsetting to hear a professional taking such a black & white stance on an entire group of people. Are most narcissists/antisocial people resistent to change - largely due to a lack of awareness or a false belief that it is their strength? Obviously. But I've consistently sought help & been told by several professionals I was a "lost cause" simply because of a diagnosis on my record. It's not until my recent therapist that I find someone willing to hear me out... I know I'm not the usual case, but I'd hope you aren't dismissing patients wholesale & considering them unchanging simply because of that diagnosis. People are complex & no group is a monolith. Sorry for getting on my soap box - it's a tricky situation & I definitely don't want to diminish the harm anyone has done. And I definitely agree that Jaclyn qualifies, both as someone w/ narc tendencies AND someone who has demonstrated an inability to change. But... I think it's important not to lose nuance in our emotional reactions.

@ZijnShayatanica Thank you for your comment. No, I'm not dismissing patients wholesale or considering them unchangeable due to a diagnosis. I was speaking from my experience, as well as research I've read. Please keep in mind that I did say only a few of my clients were diagnosed with NPD. And, that's from the hundreds of clients I've worked with throughout my clinical career. I do know a diagnosis is a diagnosis and not the person as a whole being. Yes, I believe that with help and a willingness to change, change can occur. It's refreshing to hear a success story, so thank you for sharing yours 🙂

It's a delicate balance, trying to ensure no one [especially victims] feel like I'm making excuses but also having been a firsthand witness to how the stigma can impede the ability to get help. It's already a difficult diagnosis that many people will not get to a point of even imperfect recovery for... I truly wonder sometimes how many people might accept help if there were a different atmosphere. @ZijnShayatanica No, you didn't come off as accusatory at all. It is a delicate balance. Mental health can be delicate all by itself even without any diagnosis. I have had some colleagues who see a diagnosis versus the person, and I find that sad. Everyone deserves to be heard, and their willingness to change or not change becomes evident as therapy goes on. One of my pet peeves is when a person believes they are their diagnosis (the same as people who blame their actions on their astrological sign). And, maybe that's an easy way out for them to not hold themselves accountable. Or maybe they feel that way due to bad therapy. I'm glad you found someone who listens to you. Our job is to listen, help, encourage, guide, and not disregard our patients/clients.

On some level Linda from Morphe seems like she also needs to be held accountable for the part she played in some of this. I can only think the only reason JH never threw Linda under the bus is bc she has NDA’s with anyone she’s every worked with. Bc they’re obviously a shady company and even people like J ⭐️ who have loose lips, have never said anything about her or even Morphe as a whole. In the long run a huge part of the hit Jaclyn took in the lipstick scandal was actually Morphe’s fault now that we know Jaclyn doesn’t even own the brand.

We all know Marlena F'd up by not making sure that contract got signed. Still Jaclyn should have told Becca & Morphe a time line for her availability that included getting the MUG palette out - that would have shown integrity - but clearly they offered her more money & those are the deals she chose over MUG! I understand business is business - but at the end of the day I know my head would not have rested easily on my pillow knowing I screwed my friend over in a Huge Way!! Part of me wanted to believe Jaclyn was young and naive in business, and put her trust in the wrong people. But then she still doubles down with these excuses and non-apologies years later. If she had simply said to any of these creators I made mistakes and I’m sorry, I might believe her

Jen, this was amazing ans so much work!! I would love to see an even deeper dive into Jaclyn Hill. It seems she was screwing people over even BEFORE she met Linda from Morphe, but that things escalated after that friendship developed. Linda showed JH the $$$ and that's all Jacylyn needed to sell her soul. She has hurt and stomped on so many people that I really think it is coming to bite her back now. IMO, JH is not as creative and talented as people give her credit for. She always says "her formula" and "her shades" as if she was actually in the lab mixing and working on the makeup her name is attached to. If she knew anything about formulas, then she wouldn't have had lipstickgate.

The boyfriend walked in while I was watching this and he listened for a bit and then said, honestly the serial killer vids you watch seem way less crazy. LOOOOOL wow. The truth coming out. Thank you for all your work Jen!!

Jen, great coverage on this and going through all the details. I totally forgot about that terrible becca palette I was so upset about that and remember returning it. It was the last thing I ever bought with Jaclyn’s name on it

i’ve been waiting for your reaction for this! i find jaclyn trying to redeem herself by saying she didn’t know but i will never want to collab with her everything has to do with money to her

Nobody should be given so much power that they can destroy so many people’s businesses. I blame the influencer trend that was so prevalent a few years ago, which has fortunately/ hopefully gotten a lot better now

Lawnerd here. I love Jen Gerard and her brand. And I love her more for seeing that she has the lawnerd mug. Also, weren’t those lipsticks formulated BEFORE Jaclyn’s face was added to them and she promoted them. Those were Jen’s products from the get go. Why would she pay out ANY money to keep the names the SAME!? That’s ridiculous.
