If we actually just all came together and made this damn game all of this other drama wouldn't even matter anymore. Can we just do this already.

Bluedrake is spitting straight facts here. It's crazy how some studios can pull off the smoke and mirrors routine with fancy Kickstarter campaigns, while here we have a community-backed project in Unreal Engine. That's not only playable but constantly evolving. Major props to Bluedrake for keeping it real and delivering an actual gaming experience that's already available for free on Steam. Time to ditch the distractions and focus on what's tangible. Let's support projects that prove themselves through action, not just empty promises and screenshots.

Also many people say that they what a game just like RS2; but we already have a game like that it's called Rising Storm 2. Sure Oretarion: Harsh Doorstop has issues and it still needs polishing and many people are probably "put off" because that that; but I just don't get the "I want someone to make a game that's the same as an other game that already exists, but it's not a new project so I don't care" mentality.

Kick starter games are just a tip of the iceberg problem.... AAA companies are the true problem. Look at Call of Duty and Battlefield BEFORE they hit consoles, then after they hit consoles. CoD 1 to CoD 4, every game/expansion was blatantly a new game. Same with BF 1942 to BF3. Then CoD:4 to whatever it's at now, and BF3 to BF2142.... basically the same exact games with very minor changes outside of era changes. Released for $60 every time, where as they should be $20 to $40 expansion packs (tops). AND PEOPLE BUY THEM LIKE CRACK.

@@huntervegas4548 Your take on AAA titles hits the nail on the head. It's frustrating to witness franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield lose their innovative edge, essentially offering what feels like the same game with minimal changes release after release. All these people buy essentially the same game, expecting a different outcome.

@@Rogi_Pogee I just really hope more games like Baulders Gate 3 happen to change this mess of green we've been in for way too many years. I do have hope that with AI like chatGPT being able to code it makes games much easier and faster to make. Just goofing around like 8 months ago with GPT 3 I created a playable text based RPG in 30 minutes just by telling it things like "hey make me an RPG game with a character named X, where i kill monsters in a dungeon to level up" then after that "Now make it so when I level up I can get loot and abilities". I stopped after that, but was amazed how easy it worked, I could have easily made it from just text to having a character move on screen and stuff. Obviously AI will change the world soon, but I just can't wait to see what it does to gaming!

I am going to be totally honest, and also I am 100% aware that my opinion might not be relevant. I followed Bluedrake a couple years ago, back when Operation Harsh Doorstop wasn't a thing. I liked his content. But then when he announced the development on O:HD I not only just followed every devblog but also made my way into the community and shared the project further to anyone I knew. Because I was believing in the project. However, I changed my mind pretty quick after OHD was released... See, while it was in early alpha and I first played it I really understood and ignored all the little bugs and the minor problems, thinking they would get solved before the launch, based on the community feedback. Maybe not entirely (cause they're not superhumans) but the most of them. To my surprise, things didn't get any better at the launch. OHD was NOT finished when it came out, and by that I dont mean finished like it won't ever need updates and fixes ever again. I mean it felt so raw and literally like an unfinished project. But I didnt mind it. I played OHD both Singleplayer and multiplayer and tried to enjoy every moment of it. And I did enjoy it... But this is not at the moment a game I'd come back to. As of 17th February 2023 (the last date I played the game on according to Steam), the servers were mostly empty. And I wasn't shocked. I just felt disappointed because i expected more people to be there and enjoy the hard work Bluedrake Studios put together in OHD. And I still wish it would be what it initially was intended to be. "A game like ArmA3, Squad or Insurgency but completely free". As time passed I slowly lost hope. As fixes, patches, updates came out, OHD was not going into the Mil-Sim area at all. And now looking back at it: I think OHD is more of a good attempt at making a free realistic tactical shooter, but it's still miles away from what I expected back when it started being developed. Hope Bluedrake will eventually get the job done.

It's scattered bain, Literally, I buy way more games than I actually play, Something is on sale I buy it, in fact, there are AAA titles I've bought and downloaded, and sitting in my Steam Library that I've never even launched once, I've played Harsh Doorstop several months apart and I can honestly say your game is way better than many AAA titles, not only that your game has the potential of being the Garry's Mod of Tactical Shooters, you've made it in such a way that the Playability is endless and that's why I bought the Game package several months back because this will definitely be my go-to game in almost every scenario once the community really starts to churn out Mods which they already do but imagine on your finished game what those Mods will play, even a good Zombie Horde Game, Love the fact you made it so people less skilled can battle AI Bots, Appealing to the Masses is a great thing, My dad cannot play Multiplayer but he loves Battlefield 2 for that reason and he'll love your game as well

Some people are scared that OHD could actually work. It's why the content creators for paid games ripped into OHD when it was released, yes it wasn't ready as a game, but they wanted to make sure it failed. Just imagine the footage shown here with helicopters & jeeps.. yeah WTF would anyone bother with Burning Lands at that point? I've been keeping an eye out on the development of OHD and let me just say, I think the next release is going to show the potential.

look Bluedrake, I'm glad You're Passionate about this Project. But there is simply not enough Positive to go along with the Negative. You're completely right about this though. Off Topic Rant: here are two types of reviews that You absolutely have read Review 1. game is unpolished, gameplay isn't very smooth, movement is clunky. Review 2. (game) is better these reviews suck so here's a tip instead now here is a way to fix one thing i learned back in Far Cry's Map Editors. at 15:44 there is a pond and the terrain is all fucked but there is a way to fix that shit rocks, proper grass for the pond, rocks, terrain texture needs to change on the sides of the pond, rocks, rocks, rocks, rocks. you get the point. look just fix that shit and made the switch from the terrain to water feel natural and the MOMENT you learn how to do that i swear it unlocks a whole ass different part of your brain and you can transition ANYTHING to ANYTHING i am serious. i don't know what the fuck happened when i first did that shit with water but i swear god just dumped a fat turd of knowledge into my brain. tldr; learn to make smooth transitions from terrain to water, short to tall grass, coc (clash of clans) to baller, ect. smooth is better, also movement feels like shit but i actually don't know shit about movement so you gotta figure that one out yourself but keep it up anyways. glad you're proud of your project, there are plenty of problems but you'll iron them out eventually i'm sure of it. also people paying for dogshit games will always be a thing due to casuals being dipshits, look at cod mwIII for example.

Ive supported ohd from the beginning but, the main thing people look at this for is the modern day aspect of the game, mostly. And on top of that OHD is very bear bones. And will take a long time before it will be developed enough to keep peoples attention. When you make a game barebones for the sake of making it bare Bones it drives people away because when you don't have any plan in mind of what you want to do no direction Leaving it up to the community, this game could pretty much become call of duty and not something like rising storm. People at the end of the day people want a solid product. But when you make your games bare Bones for the sake of being bare Bones, people will look at it as you half-assing the game. And honestly that's what it feels like for a lot of people. So like I said it would take a very long time for people to look at this game. And think it's an alternative to any other game. I still hope the games is a success. And that it does evolve into something i want to play often.

As long as the game SOUNDS good they don't care until they are hit with a product that sucks, then wonder what went wrong. They don't have any respect for people that deliver a truthful outlook and a realistic perspective. They do this to themselves then have the audacity to claim that it's because gaming is going downhill. Some triple A companies do act out of pocket these days, but at the end of it all gamers are responsible for where they put their time and money.

Dude, your making a great game....with all kind of development potential. Keep fighting to get this done. My laptop I hop on and play this occasionally to keep up with the development is a complete potato but once things are turned down it works great and is enjoyable. So fuck these assholes taking money under false pretense and downing anyone competing with them. Hope eventually you can make it completely cross platform and smash them with its sucess.

Honestly I’ve been scammed by a battle Royale project and a zombie game that never came out and I believe you weirdly enough I really want everyone to work together and make a game like this free and I have actually seen a video talking crap about a game called operation harshdoor stop and when I looked it up I saw your channel and got the game and it’s actually fucking really good the only thing I would wanna add is more character customization but other than that the game is solid as fuck I didn’t know you made it and now I’m gonna sub and grind the game and hopefully people stop being weirdos

What's wrong with that though? If a food chain messes up I would automatically expect their competitors to take the opportunity to explain why that would never happen with them. I don't understand the jab because that sounds completely sensible for anyone passionate about a thing.

The game doesn't just have Vietnam era stuff, it as of now has WW1 to Modern era units/maps, it could easily include the American civil war era or others, and have over 150 years of playable units/maps.

Would love to have civil war content in OHD, just our team is so small we cant feasably make all that content and maintain it with the team size we have atm. I def am a fan of cw stuff. Maybe a modder will do a great mod of it and we pay them to put it into OHD...you never know, but its possible.

It baffles me people still fall for that stuff like this. You have a game that's made by the gamers for the gamers.(Cries as my gaming desktop is a fucking potato and I can't run it, PAIN.) Fully supported with mods a creator that ACTUALLY cares for his game and the community. And people will STILL look for something new and get over hyped and then get mad when it turns out to be a scam or they the producer can't keep their promises. Like this has happened so many times and people are still blind to the pattern, it's fucking ridiculous. We've seen the Kickstarter stuff before i.e Days of War and others. It's like people LOVE to get fucked over and then bitch and moan knowing a game like yours is what their looking for but still deny to play it and back it. This is another supporter, Thank you for coming to my YTalk. :^)

Would love to see some extra server options for kits... EFT style inventory that allows players to swap individual kit items off defeated enemies. For *gameplay balance:* Adding to your kit makes you slower, dropping items makes you faster. I think it'd be super fun and add an extra layer of tactical in-game strategy. As a server option that _could be toggled on/off_ everyone could have the playstyle they prefer (solid kits or incremental piece by piece kits).

Blue, just focus on your game and your art. I like this project, let people be stupid because honestly thats never gonna change. Good luck with development. I think this game has great potential and reminds us we are not beholden to AAA studios that produce lack luster titles and predatory practices within the industry. This is a big deal even if people dont realize it yet. I think its akin to the new battlebit game, im really stoked that creators like you are doing something rather than just talk out of their ass

Bluedrake, videos like this show how passionate you and your team are. Just make them sparingly, people who hate your good project love these rants. Let people fall into the hole of giving their money to scammers. Your reputation will not get better by ranting, trust me, I've seen it before. Show people your good work, people will come to you. Time will expose the scammers. As your project continues and you pour passion into it. People will see, it's going to take a LONG time. But trust me, people will see.

I don't like throwing shade because I'd rather work and let that speak for itself, but damn if it isn't frustrating as hell to watch people give money to obvious scams while I'm busting my ass to make something happen every day of the week.
